What Is The Price Of 2023 MG Hector Plus Facelift Petrol Variants?

The 2023 MG Hector Plus is available with a turbo petrol engine in a total of 4 variants. The petrol-manual powertrain is available in the lower 3 variants while the petrol-automatic powertrain is available in the higher 3 variants. The petrol-manual variants of the Hector Plus cost between Rs. 17.50 lakh and Rs. 20.15 lakh. The price difference between petrol-manual and automatic is Rs. 1.33 lakh. The prices of the Hector Plus petrol-automatic variants range between Rs. 21.38 lakh and Rs. 22.43 lakh (ex-showroom). 

In terms of seating configuration, the base Smart EX variant only gets a bench seat in the middle row with space for 7 occupants. Meanwhile, the higher Smart Pro EX only gets captain seats in the middle row with space for 6 occupants. The top 2 variants have the option of bench as well as captain seats in the middle row with no price difference between 6-seater and 7-seater layouts.

It’s worth noting that the Sharp Pro EX doesn’t get electronic safety features and only saves you Rs. 10,000 compared to the Sharp Pro (non-EX). So, we’ll not include it in this variants explained article and recommend against buying the Sharp Pro EX variant.

The automatic transmission carries a premium of Rs. 1.33 lakh over the petrol-manual powertrain of this variant. The Hector Plus Sharp Pro petrol is available in 6-seat (with captain seats in middle row) as well as 7-seat layout (with bench seat in middle row). There’s no price difference between 6-seat and 7-seat configurations.

The Sharp Pro variant of the 2023 Hector Plus facelift gets the following additional features over the base Smart EX base variant:

In the Sharp Pro variant, you may only miss the ADAS features. Otherwise, this variant is well packed with features. This variant is suitable for buyers who want an upmarket ownership experience. Especially with the automatic transmission, this variant earns our top recommendation.

The Savvy Pro top model of the Hector Plus petrol is only available with the automatic transmission and costs Rs. 22.43 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Rs. 95,000 more expensive than the lower Sharp Pro petrol-automatic.

The Smart Pro variant adds the following features over the lower Sharp Pro variant:

The top-spec Savvy Pro offers all the features you should expect from a car of this price. If you’re interested in ADAS features, then the Savvy Pro variant more than justifies the incremental price over the Sharp Pro petrol-automatic. But for most buyers, the Sharp Pro offer a better balance of value and ownership experience.

Which Variant Of The MG Hector Plus Petrol Should You Buy?

With the Hector Plus petrol-manual powertrain, the Smart EX is our top recommendation. It offers most of the must-have features for a well-rounded ownership experience and a fantastic value for money. The upgrade to Sharp Pro is also suitable for buyers who want an upmarket ownership experience.

For the Hector Plus petrol-automatic buyers, the Sharp Pro is our top recommendation. However, the upgrade to Savvy Pro is also worth the cost for buyers who want the ADAS features.

It’s worth noting that we’re not recommending the Sharp Pro EX variant of the Hector Plus with either transmission as it’s only Rs. 10,000 cheaper than the Sharp Pro (non-EX) variants. The Sharp Pro EX doesn't get electronic safety features such as ESC, HSA and traction control. These features more than justify the upgrade cost to the non-EX variant.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The MG Hector Plus Petrol?

Among its peers, the MG Hector Plus has the smallest engine displacement. However, the presence of a turbocharger gives it satisfactory torque output from fairly low revolutions of just 1600rpm. The Innova Hycross and Alcazar sit at the bottom in terms of torque output while the Mahindra’s XUV700 and Scorpio N sit at the top in their segment. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Innova Hycross leads the pack with a figure of 21.1kmpl from its hybrid powertrain. Even without the hybrid tech, the Innova Hycross has a respectable mileage figure of 16.13kmpl. Meanwhile, the Hector Plus petrol claims to deliver 14.03kmpl with the manual and 11.67kmpl with the automatic.

The official mileage figures of the Scorpio N and XUV700 are not available. Since Mahindra are not comfortable sharing this information with the prospective buyers, we believe that their mileage figures could be in the high single digits or very low double digits (best case).

What Are The Dimensions Of The New MG Hector Plus Facelift?

In terms of the dimensions, the new Hector Plus is shorter than only the Innova Hycross while the Scorpio N is the widest. The Hycross also has the longest wheelbase but offers the smallest 16-inch wheels in the lower variants. The Hector Plus, on the other hand, is the only one with 18-inch wheels as standard across all variants.
