## How To Calculate Fuel Cost?

Here are the steps to calculate the fuel cost for a day, month or year:

- Find out the cost of petrol, diesel or CNG fuel per unit in your city or locality. For the liquid fuels like petrol and diesel, you’ll need the cost of fuel per litre as it retails in volume. For CNG, which sells by weight, you’ll need the cost per kilogram.
- Second, you need the mileage or km you are expecting the car to deliver from one unit of fuel. For petrol or diesel
, this value will come in kmpl (kilometres per litre of petrol/diesel) and for CNG vehicles, this value will be in kmpkg (kilometres per kilogram of CNG).__cars__ - Once you have the petrol, diesel or cng gas mileage and fuel cost, divide the fuel cost by mileage to get the cost of fuel per kilometer.
- Finally, multiply the cost per kilometer by the number of kilometres you intend to travel daily, monthly or in a year. This will give you the final cost you might incur for your daily, monthly or a year worth of travel with petrol, diesel or CNG car.

## How Do You Calculate Fuel Cost Per km?

To calculate the per km fuel cost, you need to divide the mileage or fuel efficiency you’re getting or expecting from your petrol, diesel or CNG vehicle. Then you need to divide the cost of one unit of fuel by this fuel efficiency number.

Formula to calculate fuel cost per km: Fuel cost per km = fuel cost per litre or kg/mileage or fuel efficiency

## How To Calculate Cost Of Fuel Per km?

To calculate the per km fuel cost, you need to divide the mileage or fuel efficiency you’re getting or expecting from your petrol, diesel or CNG vehicle. Then you need to divide the cost of one unit of fuel by this fuel efficiency number.

Formula to calculate fuel cost per km: Fuel cost per km = fuel cost per litre or kg/mileage or fuel consumption.

## Does Tire Adjustment Help To Save Fuel?

Yes. Alignment and tyre balancing help cut down the vibrations, improve the ride and handling and cut down the fuel consumption. In alignment, we have caster, camber and toe. Most wheel alignment shops are equipped to adjust the camber and toe. Among these, the toe is the most important one to help with fuel cost saving.

Imagine if your car’s tyres are pointing in slightly different directions like our toes. With this setup, our cars’ tyres are trying to run in different directions but the axle holds them back. Each tyre is fighting the other one and trying to get it to move in its direction causes a lot of drag and also makes the tyres wear unevenly. This takes away some of the efficiencies from the engine. If the tyres are aligned correctly, then there’s less drag and it helps with fuel savings.

If your car suddenly started giving considerably poor fuel efficiency, then you should certainly get its alignment checked. If the alignment is the culprit, then it's a fairly simple and straightforward fix. It’s also common for tyres to run out of alignment if you happen to drive through a pothole at higher speed. One hit can easily throw the tyre out of alignment.

**How To Calculate Fuel Cost Per Kilometre In India?**

To calculate the fuel cost per kilometre, you can use our V3Cars fuel cost calculator. On this web page, you need to follow the following steps:

- Select the city to get latest fuel prices in the destination city.
- Change the daily distance travelled km to 1

## How To Calculate The Actual Mileage of A Car?

While several cars have a multi-info display (MID) to show the estimated mileage or fuel efficiency on the display, there’s a better way to find out exactly how much your car runs on 1 litre of fuel. Here are the steps to find out the exact mileage of your car using the tank full method:

- Fill up the tank till the fuel nozzle cuts off automatically
- Immediately reset the trip metre
- Drive the car normally till you see the low-fuel warning and note the the distance on the trip metre when the warning light comes on (this is the typical distance you should expect on a full tank)
- Once the low-fuel warning light comes on, visit the fuel station and tank up again till the nozzle auto cuts off
- Note the litres of fuel filled and the total payable amount
- Note the trip metre reading and reset the metre for next fuel fill
- Divide the trip metre reading by the litres of fuel (trip metre reading/litres of fuel) to find out the actual mileage
- Divide the fuel amount by the trip metre reading (fuel amount/trip metre reading) to find out the fuel cost per kilometre

Only visiting the fuel station after you see the low-fuel warning light gives you a rough idea of the number of kilometres you should expect on a single tank of fuel. If the number drops drastically, then you will know that something is off and you should start troubleshooting to find the problem. A lower mileage figure is usually the first indication that something is wrong with your car

## How To Increase Mileage Of Car?

### Here are 10 tips to improve the fuel efficiency or mileage of your car:

- Maintain correct tyre pressure; you can may be even increase the front tyre pressure by 2 - 4PSI
- Maintain correct wheel alignment; fix the wheel balancing every 10,000km and alignment every 5,000km
- Don’t upgrade tyre size or use bigger alloy wheels; rotating mass drastically increases your fuel consumption
- Prefer using AC at highway speeds, but if the weather allows, you can roll down the windows in the city
- Upshift to a higher gear at around 2000rpm
- Practise defensive driving and learn to anticipate the behaviour of the traffic around you
- Coast in neutral when stopping to a halt or slowing down
- Use the vehicle with the smallest engine for shorter journeys with low-speed driving and bigger engine car for longer journeys with high-speed driving
- Warm up the engine before pushing them and avoid using the vehicle if the journey is shorter than 10 minutes (for petrol cars) or 20 minutes (for diesel cars)
- Consider upsizing the tyres to increase the sidewall by 5% to increase the circumference and get a slightly taller final gearing

How To Many Litres Of Petrol Are Required Per Kilomitre?

To calculate the amount of petrol required to cover 1 kilometre, you need to divide 1 by the fuel efficiency you get from the vehicle. For example, if your car delivers a fuel efficiency of 20kmpl, then it’ll consume 1/20 = 0.05L of fuel.

## Is 12 Litres Per 100km Good?

If a vehicle consumes 12 litres of fuel to cover 100km, then it’s delivering a fuel efficiency of 8.33kmpl. Whether it’s good or bad depends on the type of vehicle. For a performance vehicle such as the Lamborghini Urus or Mercedes GLS SUV running on petrol, this is a great mileage figure. However, from a 2-wheeler or a mass market car like Scorpio N, MG Hector or XUV700, 8.33kmpl is a poor mileage figure.
