Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol LXI - Base Model Features & Review

The base model of the Maruti Suzuki Swift petrol costs Rs. 5.99 lakh and it’s only available with a petrol-manual powertrain. It gets some notable features like:

  • Tilt steering
  • Body-coloured bumpers
  • Fixed front headrests
  • Black door handles and outside mirrors

This variant misses out on some key features like:

While this variant is missing several key features, the higher VXI variant is quite expensive and offers poor value for money. So, budget buyers should buy the base variant and consider adding some aftermarket accessories.

VXI variant of the Swift adds several must-have features but the price gap over the base variant is too high. So, we won’t recommend Swift petrol-manual buyers to buy this variant. You should either consider the lower LXI variant and add accessories or stretch your budget for the ZXI variant for better value and features.

With the automatic transmission, this variant offers much better value because of some exclusive features like ESC and HSA. so budget buyers looking for the Swift petrol-automatic powertrain can consider this variant. However, if you can accommodate the ZXI variant, then that will offer even better value and feature spread.

The Swift CNG buyers considering the VXI variant should also stretch their budget and buy the higher ZXI variant for a much better value and features.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol VXI vs ZXI Variant - Price, Feature Comparison

The Maruti Suzuki Swift ZXI also gets all 3 powertrain options and it costs Rs. 68,000 more than the lower VXI variant. The Swift ZXI with the petrol-manual, petrol-automatic and CNG-manual powertrains costs Rs. 7.63 lakh, Rs. 8.18 lakh and Rs. 8.53 lakh, respectively.

The top variant of the Swift petrol-manual and automatic almost justifies the incremental cost over the lower ZXI variant. However, most of its features are good-to-have. So, you can consider buying this variant if you find these features compelling enough. On the value front, this variant is worth the upgrade. Because of a better value score, the lower ZXI variant remains our top pick for all Swift buyers.

Which Variant Of The Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol Should You Buy?

For the Swift petrol-manual buyers, the base variant is suitable if you’re on a tight budget. Even if you can accommodate the VXi variant, we’ll suggest against buying it as it offers poor value for money considering the incremental cost over the LXI trim and the additional features. If you want more features, then you should either buy the base variant for better value or stretch your budget for the ZXI variant, which is our top recommendation. The top variant almost justifies its price jump over the ZXI variant but most of its features are good-to-have. So, you can consider buying it if you find its features compelling enough.

With the petrol-automatic powertrain, the base variant almost justifies its incremental cost over the base variant. But we’ll still suggest you consider accommodating the ZXI variant as it offers slightly better value and features for better ownership experience. The ZXI Plus variant has a decent value for money score but its features aren't a must-have. So, you can consider upgrading if you have the budget for this variant.

In terms of CNG specifications, the Swift has a good torque-to-weight ratio and it should offer better drivability than its rivals. Its power output is also better than the rest and so is its mileage figure.

Considering the fuel cost in Delhi as of May 2023 and the official mileage figures, the Swift CNG makes financial sense if you intend to keep the car for more than 50,000km. You’ll have to drive this car for this much towards recovering the higher upfront cost of the CNG kit with the help of the lower fuel costs. Not to mention, you’ll also have to live with the lower performance and a smaller boot space.
