Tata Safari Launch On 22 February 2021; Bookings Open | V3Cars

Tata Motors debuted the third-gen Safari on 26 January 2021. Now, the carmaker has started accepting pre-launch bookings for the 7-seater SUV for a token amount of Rs 30,000 (refundable) ahead of its official price announcement on 22 February 2021.

Tata Safari

Tata Safari will be launched in six variants: XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+. Features on offer include auto Bi-xenon headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, panoramic sunroof, semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch display, auto-dimming IRMV, ambient lighting, cruise control, parking camera, auto AC with rear AC vents, powered driver’s seat, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, JBL sound system and iRA connected car tech.

Safety features on offer include up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake, electronic stability program, traction control, hill launch assist, hill descent control, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Under the hood, the Safari gets the same engine as the Harrier. It gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 170PS of power and 350Nm of peak torque mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed Hyundai sourced torque converter automatic. Tata is expected to launch the 4WD version as well if the demand arises.

In terms of design, the Safari looks largely similar to the Harrier except for some small updates. It gets an updated tri-arrow pattern chrome front grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, stepped roof and flatter rear profile with slightly tweaked tail lamps and a refreshed rear bumper. On the inside, while the cabin layout remains unchanged, the Safari gets black and white upholstery instead of the black and tan seen on the Harrier. Other significant changes inside the cabin come in the form of the high set second row of seats compared to the Harrier. It also gets a third-row of seats. Tata is offering both 6-and 7-seater options with the Safari with the captain seats (6-seater) being limited to the top-spec variant.

Prices of the Safari are expected to range from Rs 15 lakh to 23 lakh. It will take on likes of the MG Hector Plus and the upcoming second-gen Mahindra XUV500 and the 7-seater Hyundai Creta.
