Opinion — Maruti Suzuki To Launch Ignis Facelift Soon | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki India Limited have had a busy year so far. The year started with the launch of the new-age Baleno, and since then, the carmaker launched new cars nearly every month. And the launches don’t stop here as Maruti Suzuki have a couple of upcoming cars too, including the Grand Vitara, 2022 Alto and Ignis facelift.
As we reported earlier, the ministry of road transport and highways will implement the rule of 6 mandatory airbags from October 2022 for all passenger cars. Any new car launched post October 2022 will have to comply with the new norms. Hence, we expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the Ignis facelift before the October 2022 deadline.

We expect Maruti Suzuki to tweak the styling of the Ignis along with the addition of the new 1.2L dual-jet normal petrol engine. On the design front, the Ignis is likely to receive updated headlights and bumpers. On the inside, the new Ignis facelift could get the new infotainment system from Maruti Suzuki with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
In the Baleno, the 1.2L dual-jet normal petrol engine produces 90PS of power at 6000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4400rpm. This engine comes with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). With the improved powertrain, we expect the Ignis to also offer better fuel efficiency than the current model.

It is worth noting that the Ignis is nearing the end of its lifecycle. Maruti Suzuki launched the Ignis in 2017 and it received a facelift in 2020. In February 2023, the Ignis facelift will complete 3 years whereas the Ignis model will complete 6 years in India. Hence, we expect Maruti Suzuki to showcase the next-generation Ignis at the 2023 Auto Expo, which is set to take place in January 2023.
