October 2022 Cars Sales Analysis - C-Segment SUV YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars
In this October 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all C-segment SUVs in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all C-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

C-Segment SUV October 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Among the high-volume cars from the category, the Creta was the top-selling and top-gaining car in the month of October. Almost 12,000 units were produced in October 2022 as compared to 6,500 units in October 2021, which is a growth of 84%.
- The Skoda Kushaq was the top losing high volume car in the category with a YoY decline of 30%.
- It was followed by Volkswagen Taigun with 7.7% decline in dispatches.
- A YoY decline of 71% for the Nissan Kicks in September YoY comparison analysis suggested it could be discontinued, but in October YoY comparison it showed a 5% growth in dispatches.
- The Citroen C5 Aircross saw a decline of 76%, followed by a 45% decline for Jeep Compass, making them the biggest YoY losers in the category for the month of October.
- Low volume cars in the category saw incredible YoY growth. MG ZS EV saw a growth of 527% on YoY comparison, Kona Electric saw 489% rise in dispatches, and Hyundai Tucson saw a 309% increase in production numbers for the October YoY comparison.
- Maruti S-Cross, Volkswagen T-Roc, Renault Duster and Skoda Karoq were discontinued over the past 12 months.

C-Segment SUV October 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The Toyota Hyryder saw a 191% increase in dispatch numbers in the October MoM comparison. It was the top-gainer amongst the mass-market cars in the C-segment SUV category.
- Besides the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Nissan Kicks was the top-selling car at second spot, with a surprising MoM growth of 124%. Even though Kicks saw this surprising growth after being a dormant offering from Nissan, its numbers are still extremely low when compared to its rivals in the C-segment SUV category, with just under 250 units produced in October 2022.
- MG ZS EV is the third best growing car in the category with 90% MoM growth, even though its sales were under 1,000 units in the previous month.
- The top losers for the October MoM comparison are Citroen 5 Aircross ( -53%), Skoda Kushaq (-24%) and Kia Seltos (-11%).
- The production numbers of Hyundai Tucson, NIssan Kicks, Hyundai Kona Electric and Citroen C5 Aircross are so low that their total production combined is comparable to decline in production of Kia Seltos.
