BMW X3 Gets A New Base-Spec SportX Variant | V3Cars

BMW has launched a new base-spec variant of the X3 SUV. Called the SportX, it is slotted below the Luxury Line in the variant lineup and retails at Rs 56.60 lakh (ex-showroom India). With the introduction of the new variant, the starting price of the X3 has come down by Rs 5.3 lakh as the X3 xDrive30i Luxury Line variant is priced at Rs 61.80 lakh.

BMW is offering the SportX variant with the X3 xDrive30i only. It gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that makes 252PS of power and 350Nm of torque paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that works in tandem with a BMW’s XDrive 4WD system. BMW claims that the X3 xDrive30i has a fuel economy of 13.17kmpl.

Despite being the base variant, the SportX variant does not miss out much on features. It gets LED headlamps and fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, cruise control with braking function, ambient lighting, powered front seats, auto-dimming IRVM and ORVMs, parking camera and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety features on offer include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, electronic stability control, hill hold control, hill descent control, electronic parking brake, run-flat tyres, ISOFIX child seat anchors and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Compared to the higher Luxury Line variant, it misses out on a Dynamic Damper Control, automatic differential locks, Harman Kardon music system, adaptive LED headlights, wireless charging, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SportX also gets smaller 18-inch alloy wheels instead of the 19-inch units available on the Luxury Line variant.

Prices of the X3 now range from Rs 56.50 lakh to Rs 62.50 lakh (ex-showroom India). It competes with likes of the Mercedes Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace, Land Rover Evoque and Volvo XC60.
