What Are The Pros And Cons Of Kia Carnival?
The pros or advantages of Kia Carnival diesel are:
- Limousine-like luxurious 2nd row seats and cabin space
- Great road presence despite MPV styling
- Power-sliding rear doors are space efficient and allow easy ingress-egress even in tight parking spaces
- The Carnival gets a long list of standard features like 6 airbags, 3-zone AC, captain seats, front parking sensors, LED headlamps, powered tail gate, 220V power socket, power sliding rear doors, 2 sunroofs and window curtains for 2nd and 3rd rows
- A 540-litre boot space with all seats upright is about adequate 7 occupants’ luggage
The Kia Carnival diesel has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Only comes in black, white and silver exterior colours
- Missing features like 2nd row seat ventilation, powered front passenger seat, massaging function, ADAS features
- 180mm ground clearance with a monocoque frame and a long wheelbase is not reassuring enough to go over bad roads, especially when travelling with a full load of 7 adults and luggage
What Is The Price Of Kia Carnival Diesel Variants?
The Carnival is only available in 3 variants with a diesel engine and an automatic transmission. The base Prestige variant costs Rs. 30.99 lakh, the Limousine costs Rs. 33.50 lakh and the Limousine Plus costs Rs. 35.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
While all variants get the same 7-seat layout with captain seats in the 2nd row, the top 2 variants get more luxurious seats in the 2nd row with folding ottoman.

Even the base variant of the Carnival offers plenty of standard features. For most buyers, this variant will suffice. Moreover, it also offers better value for money than the higher variants, which don’t justify the incremental cost for the additional features. The base Prestige variant is our top recommendation for most Kia Carnival buyers.
Kia Carnival Diesel Prestige vs Limousine Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Limousine variant of the Carnival diesel costs Rs. 33.50 lakh, which is Rs. 2.51 lakh more than the base Prestige variant. It adds the following notable features:
- Telematics
- Captain seats with folding ottoman
- Air purifier with perfume diffuser
- Auto-dimming inside mirror
- Rear touchscreen infotainment

The Limousine variant doesn’t come even close to justifying the Rs. 2.51 lakh price jump over the base Prestige variant. It’s still worth considering if you frequently travel long distances or spend a lot of time in the 2nd row seats commuting. The luxurious 2nd row seats with an ottoman will help you relax better and drastically improve the ownership experience when you have to spend a lot of time in the car.

Kia Carnival Diesel Limousine vs Limousine Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Limousine Plus top variant of the Kia Carnival costs Rs. 35.49 lakh, which is Rs. 2.0 lakh more than the lower Limousine variant. It adds the following additional features over the lower trim:
- Premium sound system
- Electronic parking brake
- 10-way power driver seat with ventilation
- Additional rear seat touchscreen infotainment
- Wireless phone charger

The Limousine Plus also doesn’t justify the price gap over the lower variants and offers even poorer value. However, it’s worth considering only for buyers who not only have a driver to chauffeur them around, but also occasionally take the steering wheel for self driving. In situations where you’re driving the car yourself, the driver-centric features like electronic parking brake, power seat and ventilation, leather steering and gear lever and wireless phone charger will prove to be useful.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Kia Carnival Diesel?
The Kia Carnival is one of a kind luxurious MPV in its price range. The closest rival for the Carnival is the Innova Crysta, which gets a larger 2.4L diesel engine with manual and automatic transmissions. Despite a lower displacement, the Carnival manages to beat the Innova with better power and torque output. Although, the Innova Crysta is more fuel efficient.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2022 Kia Carnival?
The Carnival is significantly larger than the Innova Crysta and it has fantastic road presence. Because of its length, it has a respectable 540 litres of boot space even with all 7 seats upright. However, its ground clearance is an area of concern. While we don’t have an official figure for the Innova’s ground clearance figure, its robust ladder frame construction gives enough peace of mind to drive it over bad roads even with a full load. The Carnival’s 180mm clearance isn’t reassuring, especially considering its monocoque platform.
