Hyundai Explain Reason Why Verna 2023 Doesn’t Get Rear Sunblinds | V3Cars
The Hyundai Verna 2023 is here and it is currently the talk of the town. While the current hot topic in the Indian automotive world is about the way the new Verna 2023 looks, some are also intrigued by the decisions Hyundai have taken with the new C2-segment sedan. To understand why the new Verna doesn’t offer rear sunblinds, we reached out to Hyundai India’s engineers and this is what we learnt.
2023 Hyundai Verna Prioritises Space Over Features
The new Verna 2023 lacks window sun blinds for the rear doors. Hyundai told V3Cars that the rear window sunblinds were omitted to offer superior shoulder room over the Verna’s arch rivals, such as the Honda City 2023. It is worth mentioning that no other C-segment sedan offer rear window sunblinds. However, the Verna’s SUV sibling — the Hyundai Creta — offers rear window sunblinds in its top variants. By omitting the rear window sunshades, Hyundai have managed to offer the new Verna with class-leading cabin width and shoulder room. Verna buyers can still obtain magnetic rear window sunshades from the official accessories catalogue.

Have Hyundai Compromised Any Other Feature For Better Comfort?
Yes, the omission of rear window sunblinds is not the only compromise Hyundai have done to increase the cabin space in the new Verna. The new Verna 2023 also lacks electronic height adjustment for the driver’s seat. While the fore and aft and seat back recline is electronically-adjustable, users have to manually adjust the height of the seat. As per Hyundai, offering powered seat height adjustment would have required an additional electric motor. To accommodate the additional motor, Hyundai had to either increase the height of the seat or change the seat width — compromising on space in either of the cases. Hence, Hyundai opted for a 4-way powered driver seat over a 6- or 8-way powered driver seat.

The new Verna is not only wider but also offers a larger wheelbase than its predecessor and that is instantly visible inside the new Verna. The Verna 2023 offers a segment-longest wheelbase of 2670mm, which is 70mm longer than its predecessor.
Take a look at the dimensions of the new Verna against its arch segment rivals:
