Volkswagen Polo TSI Now Available In Comfortline Variant | V3Cars

Back in February 2021, Volkswagen launched the Polo Turbo edition which was a limited run model based on the Comfortline variant. It was priced at Rs 6.99 lakh making the Polo TSI around Rs 1.4 lakh more affordable.

Now, Volkswagen has discontinued the Polo Turbo edition. However, the carmaker has replaced it with a new Comfortline variant which is priced at Rs 7.41 lakh (ex-showroom India). The Polo TSI Comfortline commands a premium of Rs 42,000 and Rs 30,000 over the Polo Turbo edition (now discontinued) and 1.0L Polo MPI Comfortline variant, respectively. Volkswagen is offering the Polo TSI in the Comfortline variant for the first time as earlier it was being offered only in two variants: Highline Plus and GT. It is now the most affordable variant of the Polo TSI on sale in India.

In terms of features, the Polo TSI Comfortline is identical to the Polo MPI Comfortline. It gets features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front fog lamps, a basic music system with Bluetooth, manual AC, height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt and telescopic steering, electrically adjustable ORVMs and 15-inch alloys.

Compared to the Highline Plus variant, the Comfortline variant misses out on features like 16-inch alloys, cornering lights, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, auto AC with rear AC vents, front armrest, electrically foldable ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, steering mounted controls and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also misses out on electronic stability control and hill launch assist as they are being offered on the Highline Plus automatic variant and the top-spec GT variant. 

Under the hood, the Polo TSI Comfortline is powered by 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that makes 110PS and 175Nm paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 6-speed torque converter automatic is limited to the Highline Plus and GT variants only. 

Prices of the Polo now range from Rs 6.16 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). It takes on likes of the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno and the Toyota Glanza. Pricewise, it also competes with sub-4m SUVs like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
