1. New Maruti Suzuki Swift
Suzuki showcased the new Swift hatchback at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show and test mules of the next-generation hatchback were spotted on Indian roads recently. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to debut with a brand new petrol engine. In Japan, the Swift is available with a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with and without a mild-hybrid system. While the Swift’s new mild-hybrid engine produces 85PS of power and 168Nm of torque, the normal petrol engine puts out 82PS and 108Nm, which is 1PS and 13Nm less than the current-gen Swift’s 4-cylinder normal petrol engine. 3. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift
Hyundai are likely to launch the Alcazar facelift in the next couple of months. The Alcazar is expected to get a different design treatment compared to the recently-launhed Creta facelift. However, it is expected to retain its current 1.5L turbo petrol engine option. When launched, it will continue to compete with 3-row SUVs like the MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari facelift. Expect the Alcazar to offer ADAS as well as a longer list of standard safety features.

4. Hyundai Tucson Facelift
The Hyundai Tucson facelift made its global debut in November 2024 with minor design tweaks. Hyundai launched the current-gen Tucson in India in August 2022 and it hasn’t received any major updates since then. Hence, we could expect the carmaker to introduce the mildly updated Tucson on our shores in the second half of 2024.
Apart from a redesigned front grille, new skid plates, and revised headlamps and alloy wheels, the Tucson facelift features a new dashboard layout with 2 integrated screens for the driver and infotainment duties. It also gets a new steering wheel and all of the changes have tidied up the cabin of Hyundai’s flagship SUV in India. The India-spec Tucson facelift is expected to retain the current 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with automatic transmission options.
5. Mahindra Thar 5 Door
The much-awaited Mahindra Thar 5 Door will finally launch in 2024. However, the exact launch timeline for the Thar 5 Door is not available at the moment. Numerous spy shots of the Thar 5 Door emerged online recently, suggesting it is close to hitting the production line. The Thar 5 Door is expected to offer several more features than the Thar 3 Door. To know more about the Thar 5 Door’s unique features and possible powertrain options, check out the links below. The Thar 5 Door is expected to retain the Thar 3 Door’s 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine options.

6. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift
The Mahindra XUV300 facelift is currently undergoing testing and various spy shots suggest it could receive a revised front end inspired by Mahindra’s upcoming range of BE electric SUVs. We expect the Mahindra XUV300 facelift to feature the same powertrain options as the current model. The XUV300 is currently powered by 3 engine options – a 1.2L turbo petrol with multipoint fuel injection, a 1.2L turbo petrol with direct injection and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine.
The 1.2L turbo petrol with multipoint fuel injection puts out 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque and comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. As far as petrol powertrains are concerned, the 1.2L turbo petrol with direct injection produces 130PS of power and 230Nm of torque and comes with 2 transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
7. New Toyota Taisor
Toyota are likely to kickstart 2024 with the new Taisor. The Taisor is expected to be a rebadged version of the Maruti Nexa Fronx. So we expect it to feature the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.2-litre normal petrol engine as the popular Nexa SUV. In the Fronx, the turbo petrol engine produces 100PS of power and 148Nm of torque and comes with 2 transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The normal petrol engine produces 90PS and 113Nm and comes with a 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission (AMT) option. Like the Fronx, the Taisor could also get the option of a CNG powertrain. To know our expected price calculation for the Taisor, click the link below.

8. MG Astor Facelift
The MG Astor was launched in India in 2021 as a rival to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos C-segment SUVs. Now, with the Seltos and Creta having received their facelift, the Astor is set to go under the knife soon. A leaked patent image of the Astor facelift gives us a clue of what to expect from the updated SUV. Up front, it could get new headlamps, a larger grille and visually bigger air dams. The side profile of the Astor facelift is likely to remain identical to the current model, save for new alloy wheel designs, while the rear could get a set of updated tail lamps.
The Astor facelift is expected to retain its current set of 1.3-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre normal petrol engine.
9. New Skoda Superb 2024
Earlier in 2023, Skoda pulled the plug on the Superb D-segment sedan. Later, rumours suggested Skoda could reintroduce the Superb in limited numbers via the CBU route. Meanwhile, the Czech carmaker unveiled the fourth-gen Superb for global markets. However, there’s no word on whether the new Superb will make its way to India. The new Superb gets a sharper design, new ADAS features and more. You can read more about Skoda’s upcoming flagship by tapping the link below. If launched in India, the Superb is likely to come with either a 1.5L petrol mild-hybrid or 2.0L turbo petrol engine option.
10. New Skoda Kodiaq 2024
Skoda revealed the all-new Kodiaq SUV in October 2023. Meanwhile, the previous-gen Kodiaq, which is still on sale in India, received a price cut in November 2023. We expect Skoda to pull the plug on the current-gen Kodiaq in India soon and introduce the new Kodiaq SUV in the second half of 2024. Know more about the new Kodiaq below. The new Kodiaq is likely to be powered by the current model’s 2.0L turbo petrol engine. Skoda could even offer it with their 1.5L petrol mild-hybrid engine option as well.
11. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift
The VW Taigun C-segment SUV was launched in India in 2021. In 2023, Volkswagen revealed the new T-Cross SUV, which is closely related to the Taigun, for international markets. With ever-increasing competition in the C-SUV segment, Volkswagen could give its Taigun a mild facelift along the lines of the T-Cross’ new design. While the engine and transmission options are likely to remain the same as the current model, the Taigun facelift could get a few additional features, including ADAS, to take on the upcoming Hyundai Creta facelift.
12. Citroen C3X
Citroen India are currently testing the C3X in India and various spy shots of the crossover sedan have emerged online over the past year. Spy shots of the Citroen C3X’s interior suggest that the C3X will share most of its interior components with the C3 and C3 Aircross. The test mule featured the same dashboard as the C3, which offers a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital driver’s display, vertical AC vents on either ends, and a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
In terms of design, we expect the C3X to offer the same front end as the C3 Aircross, which boasts a split headlamp setup and a slim grille with Citroen’s chevron logo. The side profile is expected to feature body cladding and a sloping rear end. When launched, the C3X is likely to compete with the ICE variants of the upcoming Tata Curvv.
As far as powertrain options are concerned, the C3X is also likely to retain the same 1.2L turbo petrol engine that powers the C3 and C3 Aircross. In the C3 and C3 Aircross models, this petrol engine produces 110PS of power at 5500rpm and 190Nm of torque at 1750rpm. For now, this engine comes with just a 6-speed manual transmission. However, Citroen are reportedly working on an automatic transmission for the turbo petrol engine.
