Tata Motors recently launched the Tiago EV with the option of 2 battery packs. The Tiago EV, despite offering more features, undercuts its sibling, the Tigor EV. In this article, we compare the dimensions and specifications of the Tiago EV and Tigor EV to understand which one offers more value.

The Tiago EV is the more compact of the two. The 50mm shorter wheelbase and its hatchback body style compromise its boot space, but not by much. Although the Tiago EV offers 76L less boot space than its sub-compact sedan sibling, it is only 2L smaller than the ICE-powered Tiago. While Tata Motors haven’t revealed the Tiago EV’s ground clearance figure, we expect it to be the same as the Tigor EVs ground clearance, which is rated at 172mm.

Tata Motors offer the Tiago EV with 2 battery pack options — a 19.2kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 250km and a 24kWh battery pack that is good for 315km of range. It is interesting to note that the Tiago EV Long Range offers 9km more claimed range than the Tigor EV despite having a 2kWh smaller battery pack. However, the Tigor EV offers 170Nm of torque, which is 56Nm more than that of the Tiago EV.

The Tiago EV is priced from Rs. 8.50 lakh. However, here, we only considered the Tiago EV long range varaints’ prices for a fair comparison. The Tiago EV and Tigor EV have just 1 common variant, wich is XZ+, and the price gap between the 2 is Rs. 2.7 lakh. However, it is worth noting that the XZ+ variant of the Tigor EV is also comparable to the XZ+ LUX variant of the Tiago EV.

After drawing a fair comparison between the Tiago EV and Tigor EV, we can safely conclude that the Tiago EV is the more sensible option for most buyers looking to purchase their first electric car. The Tiago EV not only offers better value but also more features than the Tigor EV. However, if you prioritise boot space and performance, the Tigor EV excels by a fair margin over the Tiago EV.
