Tata Tiago CNG Spotted Testing | V3Cars
Photos of the Tata Tiago testing with CNG kit have surfaced once again. This time, it looks like the ARAI is testing the car and it is probably getting closer to hitting the showrooms. Back in April, there were rumours of Tata investing in CNG fuel options for smaller cars and in May, we even saw the Tiago with a CNG sticker on its windshield.
The Tiago uses a 1.2L 3-cylinder normal petrol engine, which makes 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. We can expect this engine to make around 75PS of power and 95Nm of torque when running on CNG.

This engine is also available in the Tigor and Altroz. So, chances are high that these cars may also soon get a CNG option.
In terms of pricing, you should expect to pay around Rs. 70,000 - 80,000 more for the factory-fitted CNG kit. Aftermarket kits cost around Rs. 50,000 but don’t offer similar peace of mind as something backed with a manufacturer warranty.
The Tiago competes with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Arena WagonR, Maruti Nexa Ignis and Datsun Go. Among its rivals, the Grand i10 Nios and the WagonR are available with a factory CNG kit.
The Tiago CNG could go on sale in another couple of months along with the Tigor CNG. The Tiago is Tata’s bestseller clocking close to 7,000 units a month.
