Tata Motors Sales Report - Jan’22 - Fall Back To No. 3 Position | V3Cars

With a sales figure of 40,777 units in January 2022, Tata Motors recorded the highest ever monthly PV sales. Tata Motors recorded 51.15 per cent YoY growth and 15.52 per cent MoM growth. CNG and EVs also saw great demand amongst buyers, with Tata emerging as the best EV seller in the country.

Some of Tata’s highlights in January include:

  • Highest ever monthly sales of 40,777 units (since inception)
  • Highest ever SUV sales of 28,108 units 
  • Highest ever EV sales of 2,892 units 
  • Punch and Nexon both crossed monthly sales of 10,000 units 
  • Over 3,000 units of CNG vehicles sold in January 2022
  • 42% of the overall sales of Tiago and Tigor were for the CNG powertrain.
  • The Pune and Ranjangaon plant recorded one of their highest monthly production ever.

Additionally, out of the top 10 selling cars of January, 2 SUVs were from the house of Tata. The Tata Nexon and Tata Punch recorded more than 10,000 sales units each. Tata Nexon was also the best selling SUV last month. Let’s take a closer look at the stats through this table:

Tata Motors also sold over 3,000 units of CNG vehicles in the month of January 2022. Launched on Januray 19, the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG were the first CNG offerings from Tata. Nearly 42 per cent of Tiago and Tigor buyers in January opted for the CNG variant.

Additionally, Tata Motors sold 2,892 EVs in January 2022. Currently, Tata offers 2 EVs in the Indian market – Nexon EV and Tigor EV. The 2 EVs have helped Tata Motors become the biggest EV manufacturer in the country. There are rumours that Tata is working on a long-range version of the Nexon EV. It should help Tata gather an even larger slice of the EV market when launched. Long-range EVs will also encourage more car buyers to switch to EVs as it alleviates the biggest concern of most EV buyers – range anxiety.
