Tata Developing Nexon & Altroz CNg Version - Launch Details

Nexon, Altroz Turbo CNG An Active Area For Development For Tata; Launch Not Confirmed | V3Cars

Tata Motors are in the process of developing a CNG version with the Nexon and Altroz turbo, and as per the company, Nexon and Altroz turbo CNG is “an active area of development”.

Nexon CNG

If these cars get the CNG option, Tata Motors would become the first carmaker in India to offer factory-fitted CNG with a turbo petrol engine. The CNG option is currently available in entry-level hatchbacks only, with a naturally aspirated engine making less than 100PS of maximum power.

Test units of Nexon and Altroz have been spied before, hinting at the possible launches of their CNG equivalents. It is an educated guess that these test mules could very well be CNG versions of these cars undergoing pre-production evaluation.

With the launch of the Altroz turbo CNG and Nexon CNG, Tata Motors could rival the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift and Vitara Brezza CNG.

Tata Motors offer their 1.2L turbo petrol engine in two states of tune. In the Nexon, it produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. With the Altroz, it produces 100PS of power and 140Nm of torque. With the CNG fuel, the power and torque figures would take some hit, as we saw with the Tiago and Tigor CNG, but these cars would still offer better performance than any other CNG car on offer in the market right now.
