Tata Altroz DCT India Launch On March 21 | V3Cars

Tata Motors have announced March 21 as the launch date for the Altroz DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). The launch event will be live-streamed on their Youtube channel as well. The long-awaited launch of the Altroz DCT will take place at 11:30 AM on March 21. Tata Motors will offer the Altroz DCT in three variants — XT, XZ and XZ+, along with the Dark Edition.

Tata Altroz DCT Expected Engine Specs

The Tata Altroz DCT won’t get any changes in terms of design or specifications. It will, however, offer a new blue exterior colour option along with ‘DCA’ (DCT in Tata’s speak) badging on the boot lid. Tata Motors have revealed that the Altroz DCT will come with the 1.2L normal petrol engine. It is likely to produce the same 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque as the standard Altroz. However, we expect it to be calibrated for the new dual-clutch transmission. Unlike its rivals, the Altroz DCT will come with a wet-type DCT unit.

Tata Altroz DCT Features And Tech

In terms of features, the top-spec Altroz DCT is likely to be offered with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. The teaser showed a larger screen with thinner bezels when compared to the unit in the standard Altroz.

Currently, the Altroz comes with 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will be interesting to see if Tata Motors manage to offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with the new infotainment system.

Tata Altroz DCT Expected Prices And Rivals

Tata Motors are likely to price the Altroz DCT around Rs. 1 lakh more than the corresponding manual variants of the normal petrol Altroz. The prices of the standard Altroz 1.2L normal petrol are as follows:

We expect Tata Motors to price the Altroz DCT from Rs. 8.50 Lakh to Rs. 9.50 lakh ex-showroom. The Tata Altroz DCT will rival other premium hatchbacks like the Maruit Suzuki Baleno AMT, Honda Jazz CVT, Volkswagen Polo AT, Hyundai i20 DCT and the newly-launched Toyota Glanza AMT. Out of all the rivals, the Altroz DCT will be a unique offering thanks to its wet-type DCT unit. In comparison, the Hyundai i20 gets a dry-type DCT unit. Dry-type DCTs are prone to heat up under heavy traffic conditions whereas wet-type DCTs do not have any heating problems under normal use.
