Renault Kiger Unveiled Ahead Of March 2021 Launch | V3Cars

Renault has taken the wraps off the production-spec Kiger SUV and it looks similar to the Kiger concept. Like the concept, it carries forward Renault’s family grille flanked by top-mounted LED DRLs. It also gets triple projector LED headlamps that are housed in the bumper.

The side profile looks muscular with flared wheel arches and short overhangs. The Kiger has a ground clearance of 205mm and rides on 195/65 R16 tyres. At the back, it gets C-shaped tail lamps and a huge rear bumper with a faux skid plate.

The Kiger not only shares its platform (CMFA+) with the Magnite but also borrows its engines from the Nissan SUV. It gets a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (72PS/96Nm) and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (100PS/160Nm). Both the engines will be offered with a 5-speed MT as standard. That said, while the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine gets an optional 5-speed AMT, the turbocharged engine can be had with a CVT as an option. The Kiger also gets multiple driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport, unlike the Magnite.

In terms of features, the Kiger gets auto AC with rear AC vents, wireless mobile charging, digital instrument cluster, cruise control and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features on offer include ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill launch assist, traction control and electronic stability program. While the Kiger gets four airbags against Magnite’s two airbags, it misses out on a 360-degree camera which the Magnite gets.

Renault is expected to launch the Kiger by March 2021. Prices are expected to range from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Ford EcoSport.
