Citroen C5 Aircross Local Assembly Begins Ahead Of February 1 Debut | V3Cars

Citroen has rolled out locally-assembled C5 Aircross from its Thiruvallur plant in Tamil Nadu. The news comes just a few days ahead of its India unveiling on 1 February 2021. While we will have to wait for a few more days to know the SUV in its entirety, the carmaker has revealed some details.

Citroen C5 Aircross

Under the hood, the C5 Aircross will be offered with a diesel engine only. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 176PS and 400Nm, mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic. The C5 Aircross is equipped with a shift-by-wire gearbox, so there is no mechanical linkage between the gear lever and transmission. This eliminates the need for extra space required for housing the mechanical linkages between the shifter and the transmission and provides effortless shifting.

Citroen has also highlighted some key features of the C5 Aircross, like adjustable rear seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate with a kick-to-open feature, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, active parking assist and blind-spot monitoring system. The C5 Aircross will also be equipped with Citroen’s Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension system for a comfortable ride.

Citroen is expected to launch the C5 Aircross in India by March 2021. It will be sold through the brand’s La Maison Citroen dealerships located in 10 cities across the country. Prices of the C5 Aircross are expected to start around Rs 30 lakh. It will take on the likes of the VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and higher variants of the Jeep Compass.
