In this October 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change for the 20 top-selling cars of October 2022. Based on the data, we’ll also share our observations and possible reasons for big improvement or massive decline in sales where applicable.

October 2022 - 20 Top-Selling Cars YoY Change
- In terms of YoY comparison, the Maruti Arena Ertiga was the only loser in the top 20 selling cars in the month of October 2022 It saw a decline of 2,940 units in the number of units produced, which is 22% less than October 2021.
- The Mahindra Scorpio reported the best growth, with a gain of 93%+ in terms of YoY comparison.
- The next best YoY performers in October 2022 were Alto and Alto K10 with 65.23% gains, Seltos with 40% gains and Bolero with 35% gains
- After the launch of new-gen Alto K10 in August 2022, the Alto brand from Maruti has left others behind by a huge margin.
- The Alto and Alto K10 together saw 21,260 units sold in October. The closest car behind was the WagonR with 17,945 units dispatched in October, a difference of over 3,000 units compared to the Alto pair. It is worth noting that WagonR held the top spot for several months consecutively before the launch of new-gen Alto K10.
- The top 9 best selling cars in October 2022 sold well over 10,000 units a month.
- About 9 out of 20 models on the top 20 bestselling list in October 2022 are from Maruti Suzuki.
- Hyundai have 4 cars in the October 2022 YoY Top 20 performers list, Tata have 3, Mahindra and Kia have 2 each.
- Toyota had 1 car till September in the top 20 selling cars list, but lost its position in the month of October.

Sept 2022 - 20 Top-Selling Cars MoM Change
- The Grand Vitara was the best performer in the MoM comparison for the month of October, with a 69% growth in production numbers.
- The second best performer in MoM improvement was Maruti Swift, posting a 44% better figure in October compared to the September performance, closely followed by the Dzire with a 28% gain in October MoM comparison.
- It is worth noting that Dzire was the worst performing car in the MoM comparison for the month of September.
- The worst performer was incidentally from Maruti as well (Brezza), with 35.64% decline in October MoM comparison analysis.
- The next biggest notable losers are as following:
- Eeco with MoM drop of 30.21%
- Kia Sonet with MoM drop of 18%
- Maruti Alto and Alto K10 pair with MoM drop of 14.43%
- Hyundai Venue with MoM decline of 13.12%
