November 2022 Cars Sales Analysis - SUV YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this November 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all SUVs in India. We’ll also share our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

SUV Segment November 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

Hyundai was the top-selling brand for SUV body-style cars in November 2021, with 20,793 units sold from the carmaker. Tata was the second biggest SUV seller with 19,972 units sold in the same month.
However, a year later, Tata emerged as the biggest SUV maker with 31,558 units sold in November 2022, as compared to 19,972 units in November of 2021. Mahindra was on the second spot with 30,035 units sold in November 2022.
Among the SUVs, the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Creta were the top 2 performers in November. They were followed by the Tata Punch and Maruti Brezza in terms of volume.
5 SUVs made it into the 5-figure club in November - Nexon, Creta, Punch, Brezza and Venue.
In terms of YoY change, the Tata Punch posted a 98.5% improvement and was the clear top gainer amongst the high volume cars of the SUV body-style.
Mahindra’s Scorpio sisters reported a growth of around 91.5% and was the second best gainer.
Most mass-market cars performed well and saw a YoY growth in sales.
Among the notable top losers were the Nissan Kicks with 97% YoY decline, Alturas G4 with 94% YoY drop, C5 AirCross with 60% YoY decline and Jeep Compass with a 47.72% decline.
Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster and Volkswagen T-Roc were still in production in November 2021 but were discontinued in the subsequent months.

SUV Segment November 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

Unlike last month, the growth in the mass-market cars was not as striking. Top 15 selling SUVs either saw a decline in numbers or saw a nominal increase at best.
The top gainer mass market SUV was Tata Nexon with just over 15% MoM rise in November comparison analysis.
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder from Toyota was the top MoM gainer in October 2022 MoM analysis, with an improvement of 191% over its September sales figures, but saw a decline of almost 8% in November over October.
Hyrder’s sister from Maruti, Grand Vitara was the biggest loser in MoM comparison in November with a 45% decline in numbers.
Urban Cruiser has been reporting zero dispatches for a couple of months. Toyota may soon discontinue it officially.
