Next-Gen Tata Nexon New Details Revealed

The latest spy shots confirm a 360-degree parking camera for the next-gen Nexon. The images clearly reveal the front camera mounted on the bumper while older spy shots revealed side cameras mounted on the ORVMs. Since there is no radar placed on the bumper, the new-gen Nexon is unlikely to offer advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS).

Speaking of further details, the next-gen Nexon will offer vertically-stacked LED headlights with twin projector units. It is also likely to get a connected LED DRL design with a gill-like design at either side. Around the side, the new-gen Nexon also offers a new 5-spoke alloy wheel with a star-like design. At the rear, the new Tata Nexon is likely to offer connected LED tail lights and sequential turn indicators.

The new images also give us a detailed look at the interior of the Nexon. The updated B2-segment SUV will be the first model from Tata to offer a new 2-spoke steering wheel along with an illuminated Tata logo. The new steering wheel is likely to make its way into the Tata Harrier and Safari faelifts as well. Other details include a new gear selector lever, a full-colour LCD instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system. The lower part of the dashboard gets a soft-touch leatherette finish with faux stitching, similar to what we saw in the Harrier and Safari test mules that were spotted earlier.

New-Gen Tata Nexon — Powertrain Details

Tata Motors showcased their new range of turbo petrol engines at the 2023 Auto Expo. While the brand said that they plan to introduce the new 1.2L turbo petrol engine with the ICE version of the Curvv coupe-SUV, we believe that the new engine will make its debut with the Nexon. Currently, the Nexon comes with a 120PS 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The new engine, on the other hand, is likely to offer 125PS of power and up to 225Nm of torque. It is also likely to come with a dual-clutch automatic alongside the option of a 6-speed manual transmission. We expect the new Nexon to continue with the same 1.5L turbo diesel engine as the current model. The current Nexon diesel is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) and these transmission options are likely to be retained as well.

Since the Nexon is currently one of the oldest SUVs in the B2 segment, Tata Motors could reveal the new model as early as August this year. The new Nexon is likely to be Tata’s offering for the upcoming festive season. It will rival the recently updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue facelift. Its other segment rivals include the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
