In terms of design, the Hector facelift gets an updated front end with new chrome studded front grille which looks similar to that of the ZS EV. Other updates come in the form of new 18-inch alloys (replacing 17-inch units), gunmetal finish on front and rear skid plates and black tailgate garnish instead of red on the pre-facelift model. MG has introduced the 18-inch alloys on the Hector Plus as well.

On the inside, while the pre-facelift model featured an all-black cabin, the facelifted Hector comes with dual-tone champagne and black theme. Additional features on offer include wireless mobile charging, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM and updated Hinglish voice commands for the infotainment system. MG has introduced these updates on the Hector Plus as well.

Other features remain unchanged. It continues to get features like a panoramic sunroof, auto AC, auto LED headlamps, 7-inch driver’s display, ambient lighting, powered front seats and a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected car tech.

For safety, it gets up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, traction control and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Under the hood, the facelifted SUV continues to get the same set of engines as before including a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Where the turbo petrol engine makes 143PS and 250Nm, the diesel engine is good for 170PS and 350Nm. Both the engines get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard with an option of 6-speed dual-clutch automatic with the turbo-petrol engine.

Along with the Hector facelift, MG has also introduced a 7-seater variant of the Hector Plus. Compared to the 6-seater version, it gets bench seat in the second row instead of a set of captain seats offered on the 6-seater Hector Plus.

The facelifted Hector will continue to take on likes of the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500. The Hector Plus, on the other hand, will compete with the upcoming Tata Safari.
