MG Hector Facelift Launch On January 7 | V3Cars

MG Hector facelift was recently spotted at a dealership suggesting its imminent launch. Now, it is confirmed that the updated SUV will go on sale on 7 January 2021. Compared to the pre-facelift model, the Hector facelift features mildly updated aesthetics and additional features while the mechanicals remain unchanged.

In terms of design, the facelift Hector gets a new chrome studded grille which looks inspired by the ZS EV. The side and rear profile remain largely unchanged save for the new set of alloys. It gets new 18-inch units replacing the 17-inch ones seen on the current model. At the back, the only visible change is in the form of a black element replacing the red element connecting the tail lamps.

On the inside, while the layout remains unchanged, it gets a dual-tone black-beige treatment instead of the all-black cabin seen on the pre-facelift model. The facelift Hector will also get some additional features in the form of wireless mobile charging, auto-dimming IRVM, and ventilated front seats.

Other features on offer in the top variant include up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist, panoramic sunroof, auto AC, auto LED headlamps, cruise control and a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected car tech.

Under the hood, Hector facelift will carry forward with the same engines as before. The petrol engine on offer is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit making 143PS and 250Nm paired with either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed DCT automatic. MG also offers a 48V mild-hybrid system with the petrol engine but it is available with a 6-speed manual transmission only. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre unit making 170PS and 350Nm mated to a 6-speed MT.

Prices of the Hector facelift are expected to start at a premium over the current version, which is priced from Rs 12.83 lakh to Rs 18.08 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival the likes of the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and some variants of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
