India-Spec Citroen A5 Aircross To Debut On February 1 | V3Cars

French carmaker Citroen was all set to enter the Indian car market by September 2020, however, the carmaker postponed its plan to 2021 due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the country. The carmaker has now confirmed that it will unveil the India-spec C5 Aircross SUV on 1 February 2021. It is expected to go on sale by March 2021.

 

Citroen A5 Aircross

Citroen is expected to offer the C5 Aircross with a diesel engine only at launch. It is likely to get a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 176PS of power and 400Nm of peak torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Citroen might offer a petrol engine on the C5 Aircross at a later stage.

Since the A5 Aircross will be a premium offering we expect it to be loaded on the features front. Features like LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, powered tailgate, powered driver’s seat, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are on the cards.

As mentioned above, the C5 Aircross will be the French carmaker’s first product for India. It will be locally assembled at a facility in Tamil Nadu in collaboration with the CK Birla Group. The C5 Aircross is a mid-size SUV that will take on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, Volkswagen T-ROC and the Skoda Karoq. Prices of the C5 Aircross are expected to start above Rs 20 lakh. 

While the launch is still months away, Citroen’s dealerships are already in construction in cities like Delhi and  Ahmedabad. Expect more dealerships to come up in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Noida as well.
