MG Astor Vs Skoda Kushaq - Top Variant Feature, Price, Spec Comparison | V3Cars
In this article, we’ll compare the top variants of the MG Astor and Skoda Kushaq. We’ll look at the prices, features, dimensions and engine specs of the Astor Savvy and Kushaq Style. The comparison will help us find out which car you should buy based on the value for money. Let’s start off with the prices.
Astor Savvy vs Kushaq Style - Top Variant Price Comparison
The Astor and Kushaq offer 2 petrol engines. The Astor Savvy is not available with a manual transmission. This is because the ADAS features need the automatic transmission to control the speed and gear changes, which is not possible with the manual transmission. The Kushaq Style automatic is available with the smaller engine, but it misses out on some features like the TPMS and side and curtain airbags.
The MG Astor, meanwhile, doesn’t differentiate like this between the engine options. You get the same features with the 1.5L normal petrol CVT automatic and the 1.3L turbo petrol TC automatic. Therefore, it keeps the decision making simple for you.
On the pricing front, the MG Astor Savvy with the 1.5L petrol and CVT automatic costs Rs. 15.78 lakh. This price is on par with the Skoda Kushaq Style variant with the 1.0L turbo petrol and TC automatic. It’s worth noting that the Kushaq Style 1.0L has a couple of features missing, which we discussed above.

The MG Astor Savvy with the 1.3L turbo petrol and TC automatic costs Rs. 17.38 lakh, which is a whopping Rs. 62,000 less than the Kushaq Style (6 airbag) variant with the 1.5L turbo and DCT automatic. In this area, the MG Astor seems like it’s ahead with better pricing.
Astor Savvy vs Kushaq Style - Top Variant Feature Comparison
Since we’re considering the top variants, there are a bunch of features, which are common among both the cars. Here’s a quick look at the common features between the Astor Savvy and the Kushaq Style (6 airbags):
Despite being the top variants, the British brand brings some exclusives to the table and so does the Skoda Kushaq. The Astor Savvy’s unique features like heated outside mirrors, rear disc brakes, and panoramic sunroof appear more focused towards the British car buyers. In the colder climate, a giant glass roof and heated mirrors are absolute must-haves. However, we Indians also love something like a large sunroof. After all, the Astor is a slightly Indianized and rebadged version of the British car MG ZS. The power driver seat, steering modes, voice commands, 360-degree camera and smartphone key are some of the convenience features of the MG Astor Savvy variant.

The Kushaq Style’s unique feature list includes wireless connectivity for infotainment, wireless phone charging, subwoofer, ambient lighting, auto-dimming IRVM, a smaller sunroof, smaller MID and paddle shifters. Moreover, it gets india-friendly features like ventilated front seats and cooled glovebox. The Kushaq 1.5L petrol engine also gets cylinder deactivation feature, which cuts fuel supply to 2 of the 4 cylinders when the car doesn't need much torque. This helps save fuel while cruising. We’ll see its benefit in the engine comparison section where we discuss the Kushaq’s mileage figures.
Surprisingly, that’s not all. The biggest card up the Astor’s sleeve has ADAS written on it in all caps. The entire buffet of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems not only adds to the car’s safety credentials but also a much-needed dose of convenience. Lane keep assist, auto emergency braking, collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning and auto headlamps are literally life savers. Meanwhile, adaptive cruise control makes the feature worth craving for.

The auto-emergency braking and collision warning features, for example, will literally save you money and the hassle of going through the insurance claims. Even if it saves you once from a crash, then that’s at least 1 year worth of insurance premium. Also worth mentioning is that it’s saving you from the back and forth with the service centre and insurance provider. You also don’t have to live without a car for a good week or two instead of leaving it for repairs.
Astor Savvy vs Kushaq Style - Top Variant Dimension Comparison
Not only does the Astor beat the Kushaq with a simpler and more affordable pricing, but it is also considerably larger than the Skoda Kushaq. The Astor is noticeably wider, taller and longer than the Kushaq and has a much larger boot space. But, it probably has a lower ground clearance, which is why MG may have not revealed its ground clearance figure yet.
MG Astor Savvy vs Skoda Kushaq Style - Top Variant Engine Specs Comparison
The Astor’s base engine, the 1.5L normal petrol, is 5PS behind the Kushaq’s 1.0L turbo petrol engine’s power output. Its torque output is also 34Nm less than the Kushaq’s as it’s not a turbocharged engine. The fuel efficiency details of the Astor 1.5L petrol engine are not available right now.
Despite a lower displacement, the Astor’s 1.3L turbo petrol engine is on par with the Skoda Kushaq’s 1.5L turbo petrol. It has only 10PS less power and 30Nm less torque output than the Kushaq 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
Because of the cylinder deactivation technology, the Kushaq 1.5L turbo petrol engine can deliver almost 18kmpl mileage if you drive it with a light foot. When you want to go heavy with it, it can also churn out a healthy 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. The dual personality of this engine makes it worth a look.
MG Astor Savvy vs Skoda Kushaq Style - Which is Better?
As you can see, the Astor Savvy is larger, more affordable and has way more features than the Skoda Kushaq’s top variant. The Astor has a bit less power and torque output than Kushaq Style, but it more than makes up for it with the road presence, high-value unique features and affordability. The ADAS features can not only save lives, but it can also save you money by greatly increasing the chances of avoiding a crash in the first place. With a higher probability of keeping it accident free, the Astor will also have an easier time holding high residual value at the time of resale.
Because of the size, price and feature advantages, the MG Astor Savvy comes across as a better value for money regardless of which engine you pick.
