Hyundai Ioniq 7 Electric SUV Concept Unveiled | V3Cars
Hyundai revealed their Ioniq 7 concept at the LA Auto Show 2021 under their Ioniq EV sub brand. This concept could go into production in 2024 as the Ioniq 7. All the future EVs of Hyundai will come under the Ioniq brand.
The Seven concept has a wheelbase of 3200mm which is 300mm more than Hyundai Palisade’s 2900mm wheelbase. Palisade is the flagship 3-row SUV from Hyundai. This wheelbase will surely add to the roominess of the car. However, we can’t confirm if the production-spec Ioniq 7 will have the same dimensions.
The Hyundai Ioniq 7 carries the retro-futuristic design language of Ioniq 5 and has a mix of sharp cuts and creases with soft edges. The concept gets a sloping roofline to improve the aerodynamics. It gets suicide doors so there is no B-pillar. It has square wheel arches with 5 spoke alloy wheels. These wheels get active flaps, which deploy when brakes need cooling and retract for low drag.
From the front, the concept gets pixel lights and a faux grille. The ORVMs are replaced by cameras. The tailgate is made up of glass with pixel tail lights and an illuminated Hyundai logo. Given how the Ioniq 5 retained its concept looks, we can expect the Ioniq 7 to look a lot like the Seven concept.
The car sits on the E-GMP platform which grants the Seven a flat floor and a wheelbase about as long as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. This platform also underpins the Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and the recently unveiled Kia concept EV9.
Hyundai aims at sustainability and this concept is made up of sustainable and recyclable materials like mineral plaster, copper, recycled fabric and bamboo wood. The interior paint is based on renewable sources.
The manufacturer aims at a range of 300 miles or 483 kilometres. The Seven can juice up from a 350kW DC fast charger and go from 10% to 80% battery capacity in 20 minutes. The battery and motor details are not available.
Hyundai’s sister brand, Kia, also unveiled the EV9 concept, which shares the platform with the Seven. However, it gets some design and feature changes to differentiate it from the Seven. Both these SUVs will compete with Tesla Model X and other luxury electric SUVs.
