Under the hood, the AMG E 53 gets a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that makes 429PS and 520Nm. The E63 S, on the other hand, gets a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine that makes 603PS and 850Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox which works in combination with the AMG performance 4MATIC+ 4WD system. Mercedes claims that the E 53 can go from 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds, while the E 63S does the same in 3.3 seconds.

In terms of design, both E 53 and E63 S get unique styling. While they get headlamps that are similar to the standard E-Class, they get a vertically slatted grille instead of the chrome studded single slatted grille on the standard E-Class. It is to be noted that the AMG grille on the  E 63S is a size bigger than the one on the E 53 sedan. The AMG sedans also get a more aggressive front bumper. At the back, both the sedans look similar but while the E 63 S gets a quad-trapezoidal exhaust setup and a thick lip spoiler, the E 53 looks less aggressive with quad-round tailpipes and a slimmer lip spoiler.

Similarly on the inside, while the cabin layout of both the sedans remains identical to the standard model, they get a more premium and sporty finish around the cabin. They also get the new 4-spoke steering wheel AMG Performance steering wheel.

When launched, the Mercedes-AMG E 63S will take on the likes of the BMW M5 Competition and the Audi RS7. The E 53, on the other hand, currently has no direct rivals in the country.
