2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Electric Crossover – What To Expect? | V3Cars
Hyundai India are expected to launch the all-electric Ioniq 5 crossover later this year. The Ioniq 5 is already on sale in the global markets and has received a resounding response. Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered with two battery pack options globally – 58kWh and 72.6kWh with 2WD and 4WD options.
In terms of design, the Ioniq 5 takes inspiration from Hyundai’s first production car, the Pony. It gets a squared-off front and rear profiles, making it look a lot smaller than it actually is. For instance, the length, width and wheelbase of the Ioniq 5 are more than that of the outgoing Tucson. The Ioniq 5 also gets a very unique design for the alloy wheels and flush-fitting door handles.

On the inside, the Ioniq 5 offers a generous amount of space. The movable centre console helps in better space management whereas the lack of a centre tunnel offers improved knee room for front passengers. Two connected LCD screens take the top of the dashboard whereas the AC controls sit on the lower edge. In terms of features, the Ioniq 5 offers a digital instrument cluster, power-adjustable driver and co-passenger seats, head-up display and Bluelink connectivity.
As we stated earlier, the Ioniq 5 comes with two battery pack choices – the smaller 58kWh and the bigger 72.6kWh. Both battery packs can be specced with 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options. With the 72.6kWh and 2WD spec, the claimed range stands at 481km on a single charge. With the 72.6kWh and 4WD, the Ioniq 5 produces 305PS of power and 605Nm of peak torque.

When launched, Hyundai Ioniq 5 will go up against the Kia EV6 and the recently-launched Volvo XC40 Recharge. Hyundai will offer the Ioniq 5 electric crossover as a CBU model. The upcoming Kona Electric, however, will be assembled in India with a high degree of localisation.
