2022 Hyundai i20 Variants Rejigged - Lower Trims Gain Features | V3Cars

The MY2022 Hyundai i20 is set to receive a few updates soon. Along with the Asta 1.2 CVT and 1.0 DCT, both automatic options will be available with the Asta (O) variant as well. In addition to that, the lower trims of the i20 will gain feel-good features like an electric sunroof and cruise control.

Talking about the changes, the base Magna trim will now get gunmetal-finished wheel covers. The Hyundai i20 Sportz will get automatic climate control and cruise control. The i20 Asta will gain an electric sunroof and cruise control. However, it will lose the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment will replace the 10.25-inch unit and will also add wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to the package. The i20 Asta (O) will get new voice commands for various operations.

It remains to be seen if Hyundai charge a premium for the added features in the lower trim levels. The prices for both CVT and DCT models will increase due to the added features. Earlier, the Asta (O) was only available with manual options. Hyundai offer the i20 with three engine options — an 83PS 1.2L petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and CVT, a 120PS 1.0L turbo petrol engine with 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5L turbo diesel with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Hyundai i20 range is currently priced from Rs. 6.98 lakh to Rs. 11.47 lakh ex-showroom. It takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, and Volkswagen Polo. It is worth noting that the production of the Volkswagen Polo will cease soon and there won’t be any replacement for the German premium hatchback any time soon.
