Locally-assembled Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S580 Launched At Rs. 2.5 Crore | V3Cars

Mercedes-Benz India have announced two new Maybach models for the Indian market. The Maybach S-Class S580  will be manufactured in India and have a price tag of  Rs. 2.5 crore. The fully-imported Maybach S-Class S680, on the other hand, will set you back by Rs. 3.2 crore (ex-showroom). The S580 gets a 4.0L twin-turbo petrol V8 whereas the S680 comes with a 6.0L turbo petrol V12.

Mercedes-Benz India will locally assemble the Maybach S-Class S580, helping the German carmaker price it attractively. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was first launched as a CBU at Rs. 2.19 Crore whereas the locally-assembled S-Class range now starts from Rs. 1.57 Crore. 

The Maybach S-Class gets a large Maybach grille, 19-inch Maybach alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, Maybach emblem on the C-pillars and LED tail lights along with Maybach badging. The S580 lacks the dual-tone colour which Mercedes-Benz offer with the imported S680.

On the inside, the Maybach S580 features electrically-operable rear doors with gesture control, pop-out seatbelts, Nappa leather upholstery, massage, heated and ventilated rear seats, 30 speakers and 8 in-seat resonators, active noise cancellation and 13 airbags. In addition to that, it also offers Level-2 ADAS with cross-traffic alerts and evasive steering assist.

On the powertrain front, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S580 gets a 4.0L twin-turbo V8. It produces 503PS of power and 700Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to the 4-wheel-drive system, the S580 can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 4.8 seconds.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680

The Maybach S-Class S680 will be sold via the CBU route, with prices starting from Rs. 3.2 crore. With the Maybach S-Class S680, Mercedes-Benz are focusing on customisation. Buyers can choose from 10 unique dual-tone paint finishes with a suite of interior customisation options. The two-tone colour scheme, 20-inch Maybach alloy wheels and the S680 badging are the key differentiators of the S680 over the locally-produced S580.

On the powertrain front, the Maybach S-Class S680 gets a 6.0L V12 petrol engine. It produces 612PS of power and 900Nm of torque. It also gets a 4-wheel-drive system and 9-speed automatic transmission.  The 0-100kmph sprint inside dispatched in 4.5 seconds. Interestingly, this engine is already Euro-6D emissions compliant, which is in line with the upcoming BS6 Stage 2 norms. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class range takes on the likes of the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur.
