Hyundai Alcazar

For the uninitiated, the Alcazar is essentially a 7-seater version of the Creta with a longer wheelbase, more powerful engine and redesigned exterior.

In terms of design, it gets a slightly updated front end with a new 3D grille flanked by mildly updated LED headlamps, fog lamps and a revised front faux skid plate. The side profile looks similar to the Creta till the B-pillar, post that it features modifications to accommodate the longer wheelbase and extra length. It also gets 18-inch alloys replacing the 17-inch units found on the Creta.

While Hyundai has not revealed the dimensions of the Alcazar but has confirmed it has a wheelbase of 2760mm, 130mm longer than the Creta. It should result in better legroom for second-row of occupants. The Alcazar has boot space of 180 litres with all three rows up.

Hyundai will offer the Alcazar in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. While the 6-seater version will get a set of captain seats in the second row, the 7-seater version is equipped with a Creta-like bench-type seat in the second row. The 6-seater Alcazar will be equipped with some exclusive features like a floor-mounted central armrest with cup holders and a wireless charging pad for the second row.  For added versatility, the second row of seats will get sliding and reclining functionality, while the third row of seats will only be reclining.

Under the hood, the Alcazar will be offered with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (159PS/191Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (115PS/250Nm). Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Hyundai has not revealed the fuel economy figures of the engines but claims that the Alcazar will have the best in class fuel economy. The carmaker also claims that the petrol Alcazar will have a 0-100kmph time of less than 10 seconds.

From what we know so far, the Alcazar will get features like ventilated front seats and auto AC with dedicated AC vents for the 2nd and 3rd row. Other features on the Alcazar are expected to be similar to Creta. It gets a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose sound system, digital instrument cluster, wireless mobile charging, electronic parking brake, LED headlamps, upto 6 airbags, hill launch assist and electronic stability program.

Prices of the Alcazar are expected to range from Rs 14 lakh to 20 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
