2021 Kia Sonet To Get Additional Features With A New Logo | V3Cars

Recently a Kia Sonet with spotted bearing the new Kia logo. While earlier it was assumed that the carmaker is only introducing a new logo on the SUV, reports have confirmed that the 2021 Sonet will also get some additional features.

The HTX variant of the Sonet will now be equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels. Earlier these alloy wheels were limited to the HTX+ and GTX+ variants only. The petrol automatic variants equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic will now come with paddle shifters. Kia offers the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine only. While this engine combination is currently offered on the GTX+ variant only, on the 2021 Sonet, it will be offered on the HTX and the GTX+ variants. 

Similarly, Kia will introduce a new HTX diesel automatic variant which will be sold alongside the GTX+ diesel automatic. Other features on the Sonet are expected to remain unchanged including an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, wireless mobile charging, air purifier, LED headlamps, parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, upto 6 airbags, hill launch assist and electronic stability program. 

Things will remain unchanged under the hood as well. It will continue to be offered with three engine options: 1.2-litre petrol (83PS/115Nm), 1.0-litre turbo petrol (120PS/172Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine in two states of tune: 100PS/240Nm (manual) and 115PS/250Nm (automatic). While the 1.2-litre unit is offered with a 5-speed MT only, the 1.0-litre turbo engine is available with a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine is offered with a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. 

Kia will launch the updated Sonet on 27 April 2021 along with the updated Seltos and Carnival. Prices are expected to remain unchanged. It is currently priced from Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 13.09 (ex-showroom Delhi). It will continue to take on likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger.
