2022 Hyundai Tucson Likely To Offer 7-seat Configuration | V3Cars
According to the latest reports, Hyundai India are likely to offer the 2022 Tucson with a 7-seat configuration. While Hyundai continue to sell the 3rd gen Tucson with 5 seats in India, the South Korean carmaker unveiled the 4th gen SUV in international markets back in 2020. The 4th gen Tucson is available with two wheelbase options and 5 seats. However, we expect Hyundai India to offer the 4th gen Tucson with the long wheelbase option and 7 seats in our market.
The 7-seat Hyundai Tucson will sit above the Hyundai Alcazar and is likely to undercut the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and Jeep Meridian. In terms of design, the new Tucson features Hyundai’s latest design language which debuted with the new Elantra.
At the front, the new Tucson gets a bigger cascading grille with integrated LED DRLs. The headlights, however, sit lower on the bumper. The Hyundai Creta facelift, which is India-bound later this year, also shares design cues with the 4th gen Tucson. Other design highlights include a chrome window line, 18-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, and connected LED tail lights.
On the inside, the new Tucson gets an updated cabin layout with a richer selection of materials. The centre of the dashboard gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment flanked by AC vents that runs across the width of the cabin. Other features include touch-based climate controls, a digital LED instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a premium surround sound system, shift-by-wire technology, and a panoramic sunroof.
In terms of powertrain, we expect Hyundai India to continue with the same set of engines we get in the current Tucson. The 2.0L normal petrol engine in the current Tucson produces 152PS of power at 6200rpm and 192Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The 2.0L turbo-diesel, on the other hand, produces 185PS of power at 4000rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 2750rpm. The petrol engine is offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission whereas the diesel engine gets an 8-speed torque converter. Hyundai are likely to launch the 2022 Tucson by the end of 2022.
