2022 Jeep Meridian Unofficial Bookings Open — Launch In May | V3Cars

A few Jeep dealerships have started accepting bookings for the upcoming 2022 Meridian. Jeep is expected to commence official bookings for the 2022 Merdian soon, ahead of its launch in July 2022. Currently, the token amount for booking the Jeep Meridian is Rs. 50,000 and deliveries are likely to start from late May. Jeep India are likely to reveal the Jeep Meridian’s specifications on March 29.

The Jeep Meridian will be the second launch from the American SUV maker in India this year, after the launch of the Compass Trailhawk. The 2022 Jeep Meridian is already on sale in South American markets, albeit with a different name. On the design front, the Meridian gets a tweaked front profile when compared to the Compass on which it is based. The Meridian features a bigger seven-slat grille finished in chrome and the lower part of the bumper features plenty of chrome, big radiator vents and LED fog lights. Other highlights of the 3-row SUV include chrome surrounds for the windows, squared-off wheel arches, ‘Meridian’ branding, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

We expect Jeep India to offer a 6-seater configuration with captain chairs in the 2nd row along with the regular 7-seat version. Other interior features include a fully-digital instrument cluster, a floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered and ventilated driver and front passenger seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree parking camera, and a panoramic sunroof.

While we wait for Jeep to release the technical details of the Meridian’s powertrain options, we expect it to be equipped with the Compass’ 2.0L turbo diesel engine. In the Compass, this engine produces 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It is offered with two transmission options – a 6-speed manual transmission and a 9-speed torque converter automatic. The automatic is likely to be equipped with 4-wheel drive whereas the manual will come with 2-wheel drive only.

The 2022 Jeep Meridian will take on the likes of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. We expect Jeep India to price the Meridian in the range of Rs. 35 lakh to Rs. 40 lakh ex-showroom.
