What Are The Pros And Cons Of Nissan Magnite Petrol?
The pros or advantages of Nissan Magnite petrol are:
- Imposing design, especially the front gives it a remarkable road presence.
- 205mm ground clearance is second only to the Nexon.
- Efficient engine options offer class-leading mileage figures.
- Fantastic feature distribution among variants; the base XE variant looks impressive with critical features like all power windows, 16-inch wheels, rear washer wiper, rear defogger, day/night inside mirror and internally-adjustable mirrors. The Nexon doesn’t offer a day/night mirror even in the XM (S) variant.
- Option of 3 powertrain options - 1.0L normal petrol MT, 1.0L turbo petrol MT, 1.0L turbo petrol CVT.
- Impressive feature list for top variant - LCD instrument cluster, cruise control, 360-degree camera, TPMS, rear AC vents, LED headlamps and DRLs.
The Nissan Magnite petrol has the following shortcomings or problems:
- 16-inch wheels even with the 1.0L normal petrol engine may affect its drivability and efficiency because of the higher rotating mass
- Limited sales and service network
- No diesel engine option
- No sunroof and 6 airbag options
- Front armrest rear ac vents TPMS, LED headlamps, only in top variant
What Is The Price Of Nissan Magnite Petrol Variants?

Nissan Magnite Petrol XE - Base Model Features & Review
The base XE variant of the Nissan Magnite is only available with the 1.0L normal petrol engine and a manual transmission. It costs Rs. 5.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The most notable features of the Magnite XE are:
- Rear defogger
- Rear washer wiper
- Day/night inside mirror
- 16-inch steel wheels
- All power windows
- Tilt steering wheel
- All adjustable headrests
- Body-coloured bumpers and door handles
- Black outside mirrors
- Internally-adjustable outside mirrors
- 4x door pockets and bottle holders
- Air purifier
You may miss the following features in the base variant:
- Music system
- Wheel covers
- Remote central locking
- Steering-mounted controls
- Rear parcel tray
This variant seems fairly well loaded with features, which are not easy to install from the aftermarket. The focus on safety is evident as it gets day/night inside mirror, rear washer wiper, rear defogger, all adjustable headrests, which many carmakers usually reserve for the higher variants. Even functional and style features like power windows, 16-inch wheels and body-coloured door handles are standard.
If you don’t want to stretch the budget further and will mostly use the Magnite for commuting within the city, then the Magnite XE is a great option for budget buyers. You only need to add some aftermarket accessories and you won’t feel like it’s missing many features for the asking price. However, if you can stretch your budget, then we’ll suggest getting a higher variant for a better ownership experience.

The XL variant looks like it offers a good balance of style, entertainment and functional features. However, for the incremental asking price over the XE variant, the upgrade is not justifiable for the 1.0L normal petrol buyers. You can buy the lower XE variant and add some accessories to improve the ownership experience or stretch your budget to get better value for your money.
The turbo petrol engine better justifies the incremental price gap because of some exclusive features. So, if you’re on a tight budget but you need to use the car for city as well as highway driving, then the XL turbo is worth buying and a better option compared to the XL non-turbo.
Nissan Magnite Petrol XL vs XV Executive Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Nissan Magnite XV Executive variant is only available with the normal petrol engine and it costs Rs. 7.24 lakh, which is Rs. 37,600 more than the XL variant. The Magnite XV Executive trim adds the following notable features over the XL trim:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- Rear armrest
- Split rear seatback
- ISOFIX

The Magnite XV Executive variant offers better value for money than the XL because of the alloy wheels, which is an expensive but not a must-have feature. The only notable features you are likely to miss are:
- Front armrest
- Touchscreen
- Rear camera
- Rear AC vents
From a value standpoint, the XV Executive is a better option than the XL variant for non-turbo buyers. However, we’ll suggest jumping to the XV variant for even better value.

Nissan Magnite Petrol XV Executive vs XV Variant - Price, Feature Comparison

With the turbo petrol engine and a manual transmission, it costs Rs. 9.0 lakh while the turbo-automatic costs Rs. 9.75 lakh. For turbo petrol buyers, the jump from the lower XL to XV variant is Rs. 90,100.
The Magnite XV turbo petrol engine carries a premium of Rs. 1.38 lakh over the XV normal petrol engine. The XV automatic costs Rs. 75,400 over the XV turbo petrol-manual. For the additional price, the Magnite XV adds the following notable features over the XV Executive trim:
- LED fog lamps
- 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Carplay
- Keyless entry with push-button start/stop
- Rear camera
- Illuminated glovebox and boot
- LED DRL

The Magnite XV variant also justifies the asking price over the lower XV Executive variant and is worth buying with manual transmission. The only notable features we believe it doesn’t have are:

- Rear AC vents
- Tyre pressure sensors
- Front armrest

It offers mostly must-have features with a few good-to-have features as well. With the non-turbo petrol engine, this is our top recommendation. With the turbo petrol-automatic transmission, this is an even better option as it only costs Rs. 75,400 more. For Magnite automatic buyers, this is our top recommendation. For turbo petrol-manual buyers, this variant doesn’t offer better value than the lower XL trim.
Nissan Magnite Petrol XV vs XV Premium Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The XV Premium is the Nissan Magnite’s top model. It costs Rs. 8.33 lakh with the normal petrol-manual, Rs. 9.50 lakh with turbo petrol-manual and Rs. 10.38 lakh with turbo petrol-automatic. With the normal petrol engine, the XV premium is Rs. 72,200 more expensive than the lower XV trim. For turbo petrol buyers, the price jump from the XV variant is Rs. 50,400 and Rs. 62,600 for the manual and automatic transmissions, respectively.
The variant adds the following additional features over the XV trim:
- 360-degree camera
- Cruise control
- Rear AC vents
- LED headlamps
- Tyre pressure monitor
- Front armrest
- LED indicators
A cooled glovebox is the only feature you might miss in this top model.

For Magnite normal petrol buyers, this variant is a little expensive. If you are stretching your budget this far, then you should instead get the XV Premium with the turbo petrol engine, which offers better value in the XV Premium variant. With the turbo petrol-manual, this is our top recommendation. For Magnite automatic buyers also, this variant will almost justify the value even with the higher registration costs (>Rs. 10 lakh ex-showroom price). Although, the lower XV variant offers far better value with most of the must-have features.
Most of these features are good-to-have for most buyers. So, if you find these features valuable for your usage, then you can upgrade to this and rest assured that you’re getting good value for your money if you’re buying it with the turbo petrol engine.

Which Variant Of The 2022 Nissan Magnite Petrol Should You Buy?
Let’s start with the 1.0L normal petrol-manual variants. This engine is suitable for you if you intend to mostly drive within the city and will rarely drive on the highways. This engine is also worth considering over the turbo petrol if you drive a lot and plan to add an aftermarket CNG kit later during the ownership. We do not recommend adding a CNG kit with the more complex turbo petrol for reliability reasons.
With this powertrain, the base XE variant seems like a great fit for budget buyers. Even if you can stretch your budget a little bit to accommodate the XL variant, we’ll still recommend getting the lower XE variant and adding aftermarket accessories.
The XL variant has a nicer balance of features but it isn’t a value-for-money option. If you think the XE is too basic for you and you have the budget to buy a higher variant, then you can buy the XL or you should jump straight to the XV. The XV Executive variant neither offers a phenomenal value nor does it add enough must-have features to earn our recommendation.
The XV Premium is the top model of the Magnite 1.0L normal petrol-manual powertrain. It somewhat justifies the upgrade in terms of value for money but it adds mostly good-to-have features. So, you're better off either buying the lower XV trim or stretching a bit more to accommodate the turbo petrol engine for better drivability and performance. However, XV remains our top recommendation for most Magnite buyers.

The Magnite 1.0L turbo petrol engine is suitable for you if you often drive the car on the highways as well as in the city. You can also consider this engine if you want better performance. This engine is only available in the mid and top 2 variants and the automatic is reserved for the top 2. For turbo petrol-manual buyers, the XL and XV Premium are the two variants worth buying. The XL offers a decent combination of features while the XV Premium offers a good value for money.
With the automatic transmission, the XV is our top recommendation. The XV Premium not only offers a poorer value for money than the XV but it also breaches the Rs. 10.0 lakh mark, which will drastically increase the on-road price in most cities because of higher taxes.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Nissan Magnite Petrol?
Compared to the other normal petrol cars, the Magnite’s 1.0L normal petrol appears weak on the spec sheet. It has the lowest displacement with the lowest power and torque output. On the bright side, its lower kerb weight will make it adequately peppy for city use as it has a decent torque-to-weight ratio. But, the higher rotating mass from the larger 16-inch wheels is also likely to impact its performance and efficiency. Despite this, the Magnite 1.0L normal petrol engine manages to deliver the best mileage figure for a non-turbo SUV. So, you can expect decent drivability from the Magnite 1.0L normal petrol engine but nothing worth bragging about.

The Magnite turbo petrol engine is suitable for you if you often drive on the highways or simply want better performance even for city driving. Turbo petrol engines are not only more powerful than normal petrol engines, they also have more torque available at lower RPMs for a wider range. So, what a normal petrol engine will deliver at higher RPMs, you can extract similar performance from a turbo petrol engine at lower RPMs. This not only improves the drivability, it also improves the fuel efficiency. This fact also reflects in the Magnite turbo’s mileage figures as it has the best-in-class mileage among all turbo petrol rival SUVs.

In terms of drivability, the Magnite turbo petrol-manual as well as automatic have a higher torque-to-weight ratio than its rivals. Only the Kiger, which shares the engine and transmission with the Magnite turbo, manages to challenge the Magnite’s figures. So, despite lower torque output than most other turbo petrol SUVs, you can expect good drivability from the Magnite turbo.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2022 Nissan Magnite?
The Magnite is a fairly wide and tall car but its ground clearance is worth talking about more than anything else. The 205mm ground clearance is second only to the Nexon’s 209mm and on par with the Sonet and Kiger’s.
