What Are The Pros And Cons Of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Petrol, CNG?

The pros or advantages of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 petrol, CNG are:

• Phenomenal mileage figures of about 24.5 - 25kmpl with the new dual-jet petrol engine
• Proven long-term mechanical reliability of the K10 petrol engine as it has been on sale in India for over a decade
• Maruti Suzuki’s wide service network makes it easy to find original or OEM-spec spares and competent mechanics

The Maruti Suzuki Arena Alto K10 petrol, CNG has the following shortcomings or problems:

• Substantially smaller than the similarly-priced Renault Kwid
• The Kwid 1.0L offers slightly better power and torque output while the S-Presso offer marginally better mileage figures
• Missing features like rear power windows, rear washer wiper, rear defogger, rear camera, day/night inside mirror, power mirrors and LED DRLs
• The LXI variant is expensive and offers poor value for money

What Is The Price Of Maruti Suzuki Arena Alto K10 Petrol, CNG Variants?

The new Alto K10 petrol-manual is available in 4 variants with prices starting at Rs. 3.99 lakh for the STD variant and going up to Rs. 5.35 lakh for the VXI Plus variant. The top 2 variants also offer the option of an automatic for an additional Rs. 55,000, which is a reasonable price for this type of automatic transmission. The 2 Alto K10 automatic variants cost Rs. 5.61 lakh and Rs. 5.90 lakh.

The Alto K10 is also available with the petrol-CNG bi-fuel option with manual transmission in the VXI variant for an additional Rs. 90,000.

New Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 STD - Base Model Features

The base STD variant of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 crossover only comes with a manual transmission and carries an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 3.99 lakh. The most notable features of the new Alto K10’s STD base model are:

The new Alto K10 LXI variant costs Rs. 4.84 lakh (ex-showroom) with the manual transmission and it’s Rs. 84,500 pricier than the base model. The LXI variant gets only 3 notable features over the base STD variant:

• Power steering
• Body-coloured bumpers

With the VXI variant, you will miss the following features:

• Wheel covers
• Music system
• Remote central locking
• Front power windows
• Internally-adjustable outside mirrors
• Rear parcel tray

Even if you are content with the additional features of the LXI variant, it fails our value-for-money test as it’s too expensive for the additional features. So, we’ll suggest even budget buyers to spend some more and buy a higher variant.

New Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Petrol, CNG LXI vs VXI Variant - Price, Feature Comparison

The Alto K10 VXI costs Rs. 5.06 lakh with the manual transmission and Rs. 5.61 lakh with the automatic. The VXI is Rs. 22,500 more expensive than the LXI petrol-manual and the VXI automatic is another Rs. 55,000 pricier. The VXI is the only variant with the CNG bi-fuel option with manual transmission. It costs Rs. 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom) and is Rs. 90,000 pricier than the VXI petrol-manual powertrain.

The new Alto K10’s VXI variant gets the following notable additional features over LXI:

• Manual central locking
• Music system
• Phone dock
• 2x speakers
• USB, Aux and Bluetooth
• Front power windows
• MID
• Internally-adjustable outside mirrors
• Body-coloured door handles
• Wheel covers

Even in this variant, you may miss the following features:

• Day/night inside mirror
• Rear power windows
• Rear parcel tray
• Steering-mounted controls

• Touchscreen

Not only are the VXI variant’s features a must-have, this variant also offers a far better value for money than the lower LXI variant. So, we’ll suggest all Alto K10 buyers to buy at least the VXI variant. This is also our top recommendation.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 VXI vs VXI Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison

The top-spec VXI Plus manual costs Rs. 5.35 lakh while the automatic costs Rs. 5.90 lakh. These prices are Rs. 29,000 higher than the lower VXI variant. It gets the following notable additional features over the VXI trim:

• 7-inch touchscreen
• Wired Android Auto and Apple Carplay
• Steering-mounted controls
• 2 extra speakers
• Rear parcel tray
• Remote central locking

The top variant adds some more important features, which justify the incremental cost over the VXI variant. So, you can consider upgrading to the VXI Plus variant if you find these features important. It offers similar value for money as the VXI trim.

However, even in the top model of the Alto K10, you may miss features such as:

Which Variant Of The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Petrol, CNG Should You Buy?

The base STD variant doesn’t get must-have features like AC and power steering. So, we won’t suggest the Standard variant to anyone. The LXI variant gets these 2 critical features but it costs way too much and offers very poor value for money. The Alto K10 VXI costs Rs. 22,500 more and offers many must-have features along with a better value for money than the LXI variant. So, this is our top recommendation for all Alto K10 buyers.

This is the minimum variant you should buy if you’re buying the Alto K10. The top-spec VXI Plus variant also offers similar value for money as the VXI variant and is worth considering if you find its features compelling enough.

The VXI CNG is the only option for Alto K10 CNG buyers. Considering the current fuel prices in Delhi and the official mileage figures, you can expect to recover the higher upfront cost in about 50,000km. So, we’ll suggest you to consider the K10 CNG only if you intend to run the car at least 50,000km during the ownership.

Just like the Alto K10 manual, the VXI variant is our top recommendation for all Alto petrol-automatic buyers. Meanwhile, the VXI Plus is also value-wise worth buying if you want the unique features of the top model.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Petrol, CNG?

In terms of performance, the Kwid 1.0L has the upper hand over the Alto K10 as well as S-Presso in all areas but mileage. The Alto K10’s new dual-jet petrol promises around 24.4kmpl with the manual and almost 25kmpl with the automatic. The Kwid’s 1.0L engine offers a mileage of about 22kmpl.

Among its peers, the Alto K10 CNG is the most efficient with a mileage figure of 33.85kmpkg. Thus its cost-per-KM is also fairly low at just Rs. 2.17. In terms of performance, the power and torque output take a dip when running on CNG but they’re still within usable limits.

If you intend to drive considerably more than 50,000km, only then the CNG variant makes financial sense. Otherwise, you should buy the petrol variant and have a usable boot space. This estimation is based on the May 2023 fuel prices in Delhi and the official mileage figures of the Alto K10.
