Xiaomi, the global consumer electronics manufacturer, have revealed the SU7, their first electric car for the Chinese market. The SU7 EV will compete with the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 when it goes on sale in 2024. Let’s take a look at what we know so far about the 2024 Xiaomi SU7.

Xiaomi SU7 Design

A quick glance at the SU7 is enough to tell you that Xiaomi have taken design inspiration from various cars sold around the world. The front end, with its teardrop-shaped headlamps and the tapering bonnet takes inspiration from McLaren’s supercars like the 720S. The glass house is very reminiscent of the Tesla Model Y, while the rear haunches are similar to what we saw in the upcoming BYD Seal at the 2023 Auto Expo.

The connected LED tail lamps at the rear seem like an inverted version of the Porsche Taycan’s tail lights. The rear bumper also features air vents at either corners and faux body-coloured diffusers at either side of the jumper plate holder, while the tailgate features ‘xiaomi’ lettering. The Xiaomi SU7 is reported to have a length of 4997mm, width of 1963mm, height of 1455mm and wheelbase measuring 3000mm. The production-spec SU7 will come with 2 wheel options – 19-inch and 20-inch – with 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20 tyres, respectively.
