Mahindra XUV700 Set To Receive New Variants With Captain Seats, New Features | V3Cars
Launched on 14 August, 2021, the Mahindra XUV700 has completed a little over 2 years in the Indian market. Now, with the launch of the Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts, Mahindra’s flagship SUV has begun to lose some of its sheen. According to media reports, however, Mahindra are all set to update the XUV700 with new features like captain seats in the 2nd row as well as auto dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM).
Mahindra XUV700 To Get Captain Seats
Currently, the XUV700 is available with a 5-seater and 7-seater layout. Mahindra are all set to introduce new variants of the XUV700 with a 6-seater layout and these variants are expected to slot in between the existing 5-seater and 7-seater variants in terms of price. The XUV700 6-seater will feature captain seats in the second row instead of the 60:40 split bench seats in the other variants. The captain seats are not only expected to get individual armrests but could also make access to the 3rd row a lot more easier. The XUV700’s direct rival – the 2023 Tata Safari – is currently available with 6- and 7-seater options while the 2023 Harrier offers a 5-seater layout.

In addition to the captain seat option, Mahindra could also add a couple of new features to the XUV700 such as an auto dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM). A few reports have also suggested it could get ventilated front seats as the updated Harrier now features ventilated seats for the driver and co-passenger and the Safari gets ventilated seats for 2nd row passengers as well.
Mahindra XUV700 Powertrain Specs
The Mahindra XUV700 is currently offered with 2 engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine. The XUV700 petrol puts out 200PS of power and 380Nm of torque and come with 2 transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic. The XUV700 diesel, on the other hand, with 2 outputs – 155PS/360Nm or 185PS/420Nm. The diesel engine with the lower output is only available with a 6-speed manual while the higher output motor also gets the option of a 6-speed TC automatic. Both engines are likely to remain unchanged with the upcoming update.
