2022 Volkswagen ID Buzz Unveiled - Rebirth Of The Microbus As An EV | V3Cars
Volkswagen have unveiled the highly-anticipated ID Buzz all-electric van after first showcasing it as a concept at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The VW ID Buzz pays homage to the iconic Microbus and is based on Volkswagen’s MEB (modular electric scalable) platform that also underpinned the ID3, ID4, Skoda Enyaq and a host of other EVs from the VW Group. Volkswagen have stated that the ID Buzz will initially be offered with a single rear-mounted electric motor.
The VW ID Buzz carries the iconic silhouette of the original Microbus and combines them with new-age technology and features. At the front, the rather large VW logo is reminiscent of the original Microbus. Apart from that, the overall design is modern, with LED headlights, electrically-sliding rear doors. and a feature-loaded cabin.

The former, with all seats up, offers comfortable seating for 5 passengers and a boot space of 1,121 litres. With the seats folded down, it can further be increased to 2,205 litres. In comparison, the ID Buzz is 81mm wider than the model it will eventually replace, the T6.1.
The Volkswagen ID Buzz gets a 77kWh battery pack and it drives the rear axle via a rear-mounted electric motor. The power and torque output of the electric motor stand at 203PS and 310Nm. Volkswagen claims this setup will help offer a range of 320-400km on a single charge.
Speaking of charging, the ID Buzz supports DC fast-charging up to 170kW. With a 170kW fast charger, the ID Buzz can be charged from 5-80% in about 30 minutes. It also supports bi-directional charging and hence, can work as a generator to power your home lighting and other appliances. Volkswagen have stated that they will add a 4-wheel-drive version of the ID Buzz along with a long-wheelbase 7-seater and California campervan versions later on.
