2023 Toyota Rumion Facelift Launched In South Africa — India Launch On Cards | V3Cars

Toyota have updated the Rumion MPV in the South African market with the launch of a mild facelift. The Rumion is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. Read on to know the changes made to the 2023 Toyota Rumion facelift.

2023 Toyota Rumion Facelift Launched

The updated Rumion comes with a couple of safety and design updates over the outgoing model. The updated Rumion now features a larger grille with a mesh finish while the older model came with a chrome radiator grille. The updated model also features a sportier front bumper along with a new design for the alloy wheels. Apart from that, the exterior of the Rumion remains the same as the ongoing model.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, Toyota have also updated the safety features of the Rumion. The updated Rumion now offers features like electronic stability control (ESC), seatbelt warning and rear parking sensors as standard. The higher variants now also offer more features like height-adjustable front seatbelts and reclining third-row seat backrest. A few new features of the top-spec Rumion include cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and front centre armrest.

In terms of engine and transmission options, the Rumion shares its 1.5L normal petrol engine with the Ertiga. It produces 104PS of power and 138Nm of torque. Unlike the India-spec Ertiga, the Rumion is sold with a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission along with a 5-speed manual transmission option.

Toyota Rumion India Launch On The Cards?

Since Maruti Suzuki and Toyota share their products like the Baleno/Glanza, Grand Vitara/Hyryder and Hycross/Invicto, adding the Rumion will cause no harm to either carmakers. The updated Rumion looks marginally different when compared to the India-spec Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, creating the needed design differentiation. If the Rumion hits our shores, it will sit between the Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. However, Toyota are yet to confirm their plans to launch the Rumion MPV in the Indian market.
