Toyota Clear The Air Around Hilux Discounts

It isn’t everyday that a car manufacturer announces a heavy discount of up to Rs. 8 lakh on the ex-showroom price of their vehicle, that too when the said vehicle is a relatively new product in the domestic market. However, Toyota were quick to clear the rumours by issuing an official statement about the rumoured discounts on the Hilux pickup. As per Toyota, the Hilux continues to retail at its original price, which starts from Rs. 30.40 lakh and goes up to Rs. 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

It is worth mentioning that V3Cars didn’t cover the rumour around the high discount on the Hilux pickup since we were unable to verify the same with our sources. After all, Toyota recently lowered the prices of the Hilux base variant by a whopping Rs. 3.59 lakh. The prices of the higher variants, on the other hand, went up by Rs. 1.35 lakh and 1.10 lakh, respectively.

The Toyota Hilux comes with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine that produces 204PS of power at 3400rpm and 420Nm of torque between 1400rpm and 3400rpm. The engine comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and both transmission options offer 4WD as standard. While the power output remains the same in case of both transmission options, variants equipped with the automatic transmission produce an increased torque output of 500Nm between 1600rpm and 2800rpm.
