Toyota Hilux Bookings Open - Launch on January 20th | V3Cars

The bookings of the Toyota Hilux pick-up are now open for Rs 1 Lakh. Toyota India will announce the prices on January 20th and begin deliveries in March 2022. The Hilux will come with a 2.8L diesel engine, with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter transmissions.

Take a look at the dimensions of the Hilux and its arch-rival, the Isuzu V-Cross.

Toyota Hilux will compete with the Isuzu V-Cross. The Hilux is 30mm longer and 40mm wider than the V-Cross. On the other hand, the V-Cross is 25mm taller and has a 10mm longer wheelbase than the Hilux. The Hilux comes with a 2.8L diesel engine. It produces 204PS and 420Nm with manual and 500Nm with the automatic transmission. The Isuzu V-Cross comes with a 2.0L diesel engine that puts out 163PS and 360Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The Hilux will come with a four-wheel-drive setup with both manual and automatic transmission. The Hilux shares the platform and engines with the Fortuner.

The Hilux will come in 5 colour shades:

White
Metallic white
Red
Silver
Grey

In terms of features, the Hilux will offer LED headlights and taillights, touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, multiple airbags, cruise control, and electronic differential lock.

Toyota India will reveal the prices of the Hilux on January 20th. We expect the Hilux to cost between Rs. 28 lakh and Rs. 32 lakh (ex-showroom). Isuzu offer the V-Cross from Rs 21.06 lakh to Rs 25.59 Lakh ex-showroom. Toyota may position the Hilux as a more premium lifestyle pick-up truck as it is larger, gets a more powerful powertrain, and is more equipped than the V-Cross.

With the Hilux, those searching for an upmarket pick-up have an option now to go for something other than the V-Cross, which is due for a generation change now. It remains to be seen whether Isuzu will introduce the upgraded V-Cross in India or not. The new model is already on offer overseas.
