World EV Day: Tata Motors Announce Tiago EV | V3Cars

On the occasion of World EV Day, Tata Motors announced that they’re soon bringing the Tiago EV to the market. Tata Motors launched the Nexon EV in 2020, the Tigor EV in 2021 and the Nexon EV Max in 2022, thus launching one EV every calendar year. So, we can expect Tata to launch the Tiago EV sometime in early 2023 and reveal the car by the end of 2022.

Tata Tiago EV - Expected Price

In terms of prices, we can expect the base variant to cost less than Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom). While it is a little too optimistic, we should also keep in mind that the prices of the battery packs are going down and the competition is getting stiffer as EV adoption increases.

Tata Motors currently have the biggest share in the Indian EV market space of 88%. The Nexon EV Prime, EV Max and Tigor EV made electric cars somewhat affordable if not dirt cheap. Mahindra also recently showcased the XUV400 electric SUV, which will compete with the Nexon EV, MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona electric in the electric car space. On the spec sheet, it beats the Nexon EV Max with more power, more torque, longer range and a noticeably longer body.
