Safety features on offer include up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system and hill descent control. The Safari also gets some additional safety features like rear disc brakes and electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Under the hood, the Safari will be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine as the Harrier. It makes 170PS and 350Nm mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. Tata is expected to offer a turbocharged petrol engine on the Safari at a later stage along with an option of 4WD.

Pre-launch bookings of the Tata Safari will get underway from 4 February 2021. It will be offered in 6 variants: XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+. Prices are expected to range from Rs 15 lakh to 24 lakh.
