Skoda Kushaq Spied Testing Again; Official Details Revealed | V3Cars
Skoda Kushaq has been spied testing yet again, in Valparai, Tamil Nadu this time. Although the test mule was heavily camouflaged, it gave us a hint of how the production-spec model will look. It is expected to look largely similar to the Vision IN concept that debuted at the 2020 Auto Expo. While we will have to wait for its launch to see the car in its entirety, Skoda has revealed some details of the Kushaq.
Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, the Kushaq will have a wheelbase of 2651mm, which is not only longer than its arch rivals like the Creta and Seltos (2610mm), but is also bigger than its elder sibling -- Karoq (2638mm). Skoda has not yet said anything about the length and width of the SUV, but expect it to be around 4.2m long and 1.6m wide.
Under the hood, Skoda has confirmed that the Kushaq will be offered with two petrol engines to choose from: a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. While the 1.0-litre unit will be offered with an optional 6-speed torque converter, the 1.5-litre TSI will be offered with an option of 7-speed DSG automatic. Although Skoda has not revealed performance figures of both the engines, we expect them to be offered in a similar tune as other Skoda cars. The 1.0-litre TSI engine makes 110PS and 175Nm in the Rapid, and the 1.5-litre TSI engine, on the other hand, makes 150PS and 250Nm in the Karoq SUV.
The Kushaq is expected to be loaded on the features front as well. From what Skoda has said, Kushaq will get features like up to six airbags, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto AC, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, cruise control and a touchscreen infotainment system.
Skoda is expected to unveil the Kushaq SUV by March 2021 followed by a launch around May 2021. Prices are expected to range from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. It will take on likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks.
