Tata Punch Receives 5-Star GNCAP Safety Rating

Tata Punch Receives 5-Star GNCAP Safety Rating | V3Cars

Tata Motors and Global NCAP have put an end to the speculation about the safety score of the Punch mini SUV. In the GNCAP crash testing, the Tata Punch scored full marks and earned 5 stars for adult safety and 4 stars for child safety.

Tata Punch

GNCAP released the crash test video of the Tata Punch and declared that the Punch passed the crash test with flying colours. The Punch earned 16.45 out of 17 points for adult safety and 40.89 out of 49 points for child safety. The final tally stood at 5 stars for adults and a 4-star safety for children.

This makes the Tata Punch their 3rd affordable, mass-market car under Rs. 10 lakh to earn a 5-star safety score. It’s also the safest Tata car for children with a 4-star score. The Nexon and Altroz have a 3-star safety rating for child safety. It’s worth noting that the child safety score doesn’t count for anything if you don’t use suitable child seats or booster seats. They help in properly managing the pressure points and providing a secure harness during a crash. If you don’t have one, you should absolutely consider getting one.

Child Seats

The ones with the ISOFIX attachments are more dummy-proof and convenient to use as they’re easier to install and remove. However, they are quite expensive and cost around Rs. 15,000 or more. If that’s too big an expense for you, then you can buy the seatbelt secured child seats. They’re much cheaper costing around Rs. 5,000. The only problem with these seats is that they are not as easy to install and remove. There’s a small chance that you may not secure them right if you’re in a hurry. But, if you follow the instructions, then these will offer just as much safety to your beloved children as the ISOFIX type seat does.

The official announcement comes just days after we reported about Tata Motors removing the piece of text highlighting the 5-star GNCAP score from their website. It arrived sooner than I anticipated as I was expecting such an announcement sometime after the deliveries for the Punch commence.
