Tata Punch Launch Date - Expected Timeline

Tata Punch launch date timeline expected | V3Cars

We had earlier posted an exclusive report claiming that Tata Motors may start accepting bookings for the Punch on September 12, 2021. Based on this information, we presume that Tata Punch will go on sale on October 7 with deliveries starting on the same day. Read on to find out our logic behind guesstimation.

Tata Punch

Shradh or Pitrupaksha

The Shradh or Pitrupaksha period is considered to be inauspicious and it starts September 20. Starting the bookings about a week before the period gives the Punch customers to evaluate the car and pay the booking amount before the Shradh period starts.

Navrathri

The Shradh period ends on October 6 and Navratri starts on October 7. This is when most customers prefer bringing new purchases home. The launch date and delivery commencing coinciding with the Navrathri is not unreasonable. So, we can expect to see the Punch go on sale on October 7.

There’s one more thing to consider. Tata Motors usually bring a critical mass-market car around the new year. But this year may be an exception as 2020 has already shaken and stirred plans for automakers and customers alike.

The official image of the production-spec Tata Punch and the spy shots confirm the following features:

  • Double-barrel headlamps
  • Split headlamp cluster
  • Halogen projector low-beam and halogen reflector high-beam (we’ve seen a similar setup in the Altroz and Tigor as well)
  • LED DRL
  • Halogen front turn indicators integrated with the DRL
  • Halogen reflector type fog lamps
  • Side turn indicators integrated in side mirrors
  • 16-inch machined alloy wheels (if you zoom in deep, you can notice R16 written on the tyres. Moreover, the Altroz also gets 16-inch wheels. So, we know that Tata Motors do offer 16-inch wheels with the 1.2L normal petrol engine)
  • Dual-tone roof colour option
  • Dual-tone contrast ORVM colour
  • LED tail lamps (based on the tail lamp teaser image)
  • Simple antenna design on the front of the roof
  • Roof rails
  • Grab type door handles
  • Adjustable front and rear headrests (clearly visible in the reveal image)
  • Cruise control (based on buttons visible in the spy image of the Punch)
  • Easy-reach horn
  • 7-inch full-colour analogue-digital combination instrument cluster with analogue speedometer and other information in colour LCD (This setup is available in the Altroz top variants. It’s also visible in the spy shots of the Punch car)
  • Popup style 7-inch touchscreen infotainment (clearly visible in the spy shot)
  • Tweeters integrated in the A-pillars
  • Steering-mounted media and phone controls
  • Keyless entry with push-button start/stop (Push-button start visible in the cabin spy shot)
  • All-around body cladding
  • Rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar section near the back door window
  • Black upholstery
  • Rear washer wiper

Based on the close relationship between Tata Punch shares with the Altroz and the segment rivals, we also expect the top variant of the Punch to offer the following features:

  • Android Auto and Apple Carplay
  • Rear armrest
  • Front armrest
  • Rear parking camera
  • Rear parking sensors
  • 195-section tyres (Same size is available in the Altroz)
  • Auto AC
  • Power-adjustable and foldable outside mirrors
  • All power windows
  • Tilt steering wheel
  • Rear AC vents
  • Height-adjustable driver seat
  • Sunglass holders (Available in Altroz)
  • Ambient lighting (Available in Altroz)
  • AMT automatic transmission (Available in Tiago with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and available in Nexon with the turbo petrol engine)
  • 200mm or higher ground clearance (all Tata SUVs so far have more than 200mm ground clearance)
  • Rear defogger
  • Rear parcel tray
