Tata Punch EV Spied With 10.25-Inch Infotainment System

Tata Punch EV Spotted With 10.25-Inch Infotainment System | V3Cars

The Tata Punch EV was spotted testing recently, revealing a few interesting details. Set to launch in 2024, the Punch EV aims to close the gap between the Tiago/Tigor EV and the Nexon EV in Tata’s electric vehicle portfolio. Let’s take a closer look at the latest spy shots of the Tata Punch EV and what it reveals.

Punch EV Likely To Get Touchscreen From Nexon EV

Based on the latest spy shot, we could expect Tata Motors to equip the Punch EV with the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system found in the new Nexon and Nexon EV. The spy shots show a free standing display unit and not much else. However, we could expect the upcoming Punch EV to also get a 10.25-inch all-digital driver’s display and Tata’s new 2-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo. We also think it could feature touch-based HVAC controls and ambient lighting to amp up the premium quotient over its primary rival, the Citroen eC3.

Punch EV To Follow Latest Tata Design Language

Now with the launch of the Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier and Safari SUVs concluded, we looked back at the previous spy shots of the Punch EV and can confidently say that the electric B2-SUV will also feature Tata’s latest design language. So expect a revamped front end with bi-directional LED headlamps placed in a vertical manner on the bumper. The LED DRLs are likely to be slimmer than the ones on the Punch ICE and could even feature a connecting element like in the latest Tata SUVs.

Other changes we could expect over the Punch ICE variants are an enclosed front grille, a charging port on the front fender, and new colour and alloy wheel options.

2024 Tata Punch EV Expected Price

Using our logic, we expect Tata Motors to price the Punch EV between Rs. 10.0 lakh and Rs. 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). You can learn more about how we arrived at this Punch EV expected price by tapping the link below. With our price estimates, the Punch EV will plug the gap between the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV medium range in Tata’s electric vehicle portfolio.

Tata Punch EV Powertrain Specs

Given that the Punch and the Tigor both utilise the same petrol powertrain options, we can reasonably anticipate that the Punch EV and Tigor EV will share similar specifications. This implies an expected power output of 75PS and a torque figure of 170Nm.

However, it's important to note that the Punch EV's relatively heavier curb weight may impact its efficiency. Tata has consistently delivered a minimum range of 300km with all of their electric vehicles, with the Tiago EV medium-range being the sole exception. Even in this instance, there is an option for a long-range version with a 314km range.

Assuming that the Punch EV can achieve a range of 310 to 320km with an efficiency of 11.5kmpu, it should necessitate a 27 to 28kWh battery pack. An additional 1 to 2kWh of battery capacity could be beneficial in compensating for the slightly increased curb weight and a less aerodynamic body style.
