Tata Motors recently revealed their first gen-2 electric vehicle concept, the Tata Concept Curvv. V2V charging stands for Vehicle to Vehicle charging. As the name suggests, an EV that is capable of V2V charging can charge any electric vehicle with a compliant charging system. It’s not always necessary to have identical models for the exchange of charge but the charging port and technology should be similar.

V2L charging stands for Vehicle to Load charging. As the name suggests, vehicle to load charging allows an electric vehicle to supply power to home appliances. The Tata Curvv Coupe SUV will most likely have a three-pin socket for supplying power to electrical appliances. It will be able to power small appliances like vacuum cleaners, tent generators and more. However, we see the bigger implementation of V2L in bigger trucks like the Ford F150 Lightning, which can power an entire house.

The Tata Curvv is likely to come with a 40kWh battery pack with a range close to 500km. It will also support faster charging than current Tata EVs, such as the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. In addition to this, Tata plans to roll out ICE-powered options of the Curvv coupe SUV. However, this will happen only two to three years after the introduction of the all-electric version. Tata Motors plan to launch the Curvv EV in the market by 2024.
