Skoda Rapid Matte Edition Launched At Rs. 11.99 Lakh | V3Cars

The carmaker had shown this colour option at the 2020 Auto Expo and almost 2 years later, we have this colour option in showrooms. This is the first time a mass-market carmaker has brought a matte exterior colour option on sale.

Along with the matte grey body colour, the car also tones down the exterior design elements and gives gloss black grille, spoiler, alloy wheels, door handles and outside mirrors. Together, these design choices give the Rapid matte an understated, sleeper-car appearance. The Rapid matted also gets more powerful bulbs to go with the aggressive driving style of the potential buyer.

The exclusive design elements extend to the cabin as well. The Rapid matte gets dual-tone black and grey interiors, black leather upholstery with alcantara inserts. It gets a USB-powered air purifier and stainless steel scuff plates.

While the Rapid is an old car, it still doesn’t look as old because of the straight character lines and fewer curves, which give it a timeless appearance. On the mechanical front, the Rapid has received several updates. It started off with a 1.6-litre normal petrol and turbo diesel engine and then got the newer 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. In 2020, Skoda discontinued diesel engines and the Rapid got a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which has a good balance of performance, efficiency and drivability.
